Have You Ever Played A Sport
Have you ever played a sport that gives you such a will to drive yourself to success?
If you have ever played volleyball you would know that there is that drive and willingness to win. Volleyball is a very trusting sport, one person could throw off the entire team and cost you the game. I have played volleyball for many years and can say that you need three things to be a good player. One; you have to have a good attitude, even if you are just playing for fun the key is to have good sportsmanship. Two; you have to be a leader when needed, leadership is a very valuable role on the team. Three; you need to build up confidence and have fun. No one hates a player more when they are afraid to go after a ball or make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes,

Throughout high school, my life has been consumed by sports. Being a student athlete has made me become the person I am today. Ever since I was sixteen, I have also worked at a daycare in town, TASK. This has showed me how much little kids look up to student athletes. Working at TASK has also showed me how much these little kids want to grow up and be like us student athletes. Without sports and working at the daycare, I would not be the role model I am today. Since working at the daycare, I have realized I want to be the person little girls are talking about when they say, “I want to grow up and be just like her.” Being chosen team captain has made me into the leader I am. I have learned how to push my teammates…

I signed up for volleyball. I have only had two practices. Hitherto, I acquired the skills of passing the ball, serve overhand, and set the ball. I failed to attend the first practice. As a result, I do not know how to properly serve underhand. Practice is every Friday night from six “o” clock to six forty-five at Anderson Farm Park. Moreover drills, we play games. One game I relish is where a person serves the ball to the other side of the net and tries to hit someone. If they are not successful, they have to sit were the ball landed. If they do strike someone, they earn a point. Volleyball is an enjoyable experience.…

This realization led me to become an extremely competitive player as well as person. Losing is something that I take lightly and I am constantly searching for a way for my team to prevent taking a loss, whether it be an extra hour of batting practice or perfecting a new strikeout pitch. The competitive aspect of the game has reflected into my daily life and urged me to strive to get better at everything that I do. I spend the vast majority of my time practicing alongside my teammates. Similar to any other situation, the time that we spend together brings us closer as friends and leads to us spending more time outside of softball together. Spending time on the field with friends is something I love to do and softball season is the only time that I get to do…

My parents always made sure they put me in every sport I wanted to keep their chubby-cheeked, energized, wide-eyed five year old happy. I’m sure they’d do just about anything to keep me from throwing my famous slamming door tantrums. I participated in youth soccer, dance class, t-ball, basketball and probably a couple others as well. My dreams of becoming a professional athlete were certainly in the makings.…

I play a sport that’s not very popular. I play rugby. I’ve tried other sports before, but none really interested me as much as rugby. I started playing when I was a freshman at Lakeview high school. Starting at a new school I didn’t know anyone and I thought maybe a sport would help meet some people. I heard about rugby and decided to try it out. Deciding to try rugby was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. One reason rugby is unique is because you have to be flexible and adaptable. It also promotes responsibility, and creates bonds that I just don’t think other sports can.…

Growing up, I was never naturally athletic and very injury prone. Regardless of these issues, I always remained determined and strived to accomplish my goals. As I enter high school one of my main goals was to make the varsity tennis team. During my freshmen year I practiced every day for the first 3 months of school hoping that I could just make the team. Unfortunately I tore a ligament in my wrist for the second time which prevented me from practicing till right before the tennis season started. I ended barely making the JV team which was very disappointing, but it only motivated me for next year. In my heart I knew that I if I was determined enough I could play varsity next year on my own merit. As I progressed through the sophomore year,…

My life has revolved around soccer since I was four years old. My whole family was born into the sport and I’m so thankful that I have the support from my family and friends to continue to follow my dream in playing college soccer. I believe my life would not be the same without participating in the sport I love and playing with the people I grew up with. I wouldn’t have met half the people I know now. All my teammate’s families that treat me like their family would have been just imaginary. I wouldn’t have a second family to fall back on when I need. Soccer had made me for who I am. The reason I’m so competed and driven is because of the game. Soccer has helped me become a responsible hardworking young adult that doesn’t like to fail. My never-quit…

Diving on the ground to get the ball up, setting the ball outside, and having your hitter slam the ball into the opponents side of the court. That is what volleyball is all about and why I have such a love for the game. I am here to tell you about why this sport is so important to me and also why it plays a very big role in my life. For me when I play it’s about being a team, going out there and showing yourself and the crowd that you know what you’re doing. In the time you are on that court you leave everything behind you and focus on one thing: playing your game no matter the outcome and leaving everything on the floor.…

    Peter Figueroa's Framework

Studies have shown that by improving confidence you also improve you performance (Topics, Sample Papers & Articles Online for Free, 2016) In my opinion the school needs to ‘bump up’ the publicity on sports in general not just volleyball, the community could benefit from this because of extra money pouring in. If the community and school did this, it would develop my interests and skill in the sport and ultimately it would develop my performance. Studys shows that the two most important things in a sport is Analytic and Tactical Ability — the ability of the mental system to evaluate and react to strategic situations (tactical ability) and motivation and Self Confidence — a motivated and focused athlete, with a level of belief in themselves, often seen as arrogance in athletes. (Topendsports.com, 2016) By focusing on the institutional level of Figueroa’s Framework you can simultaneously gain both things leading to a greater enjoyment for everyone. This is because the amount of participation equals greater enjoyment. The reason this affects me is that when more people are motivated to play the one sport, I will also obtain satisfaction and…

As a freshman, with previous experience playing volleyball in middle school and at the beach, this essence of competition was very attractive to me and so I tried out and made the junior varsity team. Last year, during my club season, after sitting on the bench for the first part of the year, my coach recognized my improvement and hard work and gave me the starting role for the second half of the season. The little voice in my head telling me "you'll never make it!" or "you're not good enough!" inspired (and continues to inspire) me to persistently improve every aspect of my playing during practice and such an attention to detail, combined with my inner motivation to improve, lead to my…

    Essay About Volleyball

Since I have decided to become a better volleyball player, I will condition and study the sport. First, every day I will go to the gym, run for fifteen minutes to help with my endurance and lift weights every other day, such as squatting and deadlifting. By going to the gym, it will help me to keep up with my more advanced volleyball friends during long rallies and long games. In order to help with my volleyball skills, I plan on going to local San Jose open gyms. At the open gyms, I will focus on hustling so that every time I pass the ball I am behind it. While passing I will be in a low squat on the balls of my feet, my shoulders shrugged, and eyes always on the volleyball. When I am setting I will still be on the balls of my feet, knees…
