I noticed my peers in the class having similar feelings, with lots of smiles and anticipation as Mrs.Walker walked around to each person delivering gifts. Now, of course like everything there were some struggles during the activity as well. One major temptation was to tell someone who the person I was giving gifts to was, I remember after school on the day we got assigned our people I wanted to at least tell one person, but like Magwitch had to do and Pip for that matter, we had to keep our identities completely a secret so I resisted the urge and in the end it ended up paying off. Personally, I believe the best part about the activity was the gift giving. I loved seeing everyone's faces when they got their gifts and then the thank you's that would be shouted around the room. Like everyone, I also liked receiving my gifts and seeing what my benefactor had done for that week, it was always a nice ending to a week and provided a little extra happiness to my day. In total, the experience was a great one, and when the four weeks ended I was super excited to find out who my benefactor was and to give them a more formal thank

The evidence that supports that the convict has human qualities is he somewhat shows compassion when seeing Pip’s dead parents so he does not rob him he just scares Pip and asks him to do a favor.…

Are you proud of your last name (no “you)? A surname can generate great pride or great shame for those that inherit it. Some are prominently displayed on the back of athletic jerseys, while others show up on most wanted posters. Two of the most famous surnames in history are Montague and Capulet from William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet. The play is a story about love, family, morality and tragedy. Romeo is a 15 year old teenager who is a member of the Montague family, while Juliet is nearly 13 years old and the only daughter of the Capulets. The two families despise each other, and have been feuding for many years. One night, Romeo and his cousin Benvolio and friend Mercutio ‘crash’ a party at the Capulets. He meets Juliet, and they instantly fall in love. Later that night Romeo goes to Juliet’s balcony, and they make plans to get married. ‘Great expectations’ is a novel written during and set in the Victorian era, a time in which status, class and money were extremely important and where a discrepancy between the rich and poor was evident. The novel follows the ill-fated life of the protagonist in the novel, ‘Pip’. Dickens writes in such a way that each character is a subject of either sympathy or scorn. Dickens implies that Pip is a subject of sympathy through his use of guilt and suffering. Dickens also uses powerful vocabulary to create a poignant image of Pip and his surroundings. The story itself is narrated by middle aged Pip and Dickens intentionally uses him so that we see the story through the perspective of Pip as a child and an adult. Dickens even uses Pip’s name as an indication of his stature and future actions, ‘Pip’ could be seen as a small apple seed that grows into a large tree. As well as ‘pirrip’, a palindrome, being conceived as the word ‘rip’ placed symmetrically symbolising his character ripping into different personalities as he grows.…

Charles Dickens has written the story “Great Expectations” to show that cruelty acts as a bridge to a newer phase in one’s life and wants to show how one has or will become in that phase. Dickens also presents that cruelty comes at a different time later on after you assume you got to know someone really well. It will come as you are in someone’s “trap.”…

Professor Eugene Simonet placed a big challenge on his Social Studies students: Think of an idea to change our world-and put it into action. Majority of the students responded negatively to the challenge, finding it weird and hard, except Trevor McKinney. He had a very permeable mind and he was ready to listen to anyone. With a longing for someone to guide him, a father-like figure, he responded to his professor’s challenge with positivity and eagerness. Trevor created a unique concept called “Pay it Forward.” It is an act of doing a large favor to three different people, and like a pyramid, spreading the word to each of the recipients and to do favors to three strangers. Trevor's efforts to make good on his idea bring a revolution not only in the lives of himself, his mother and his physically and emotionally scarred teacher, but in those of an ever-widening circle of people completely unknown to him.…
