Harvest Christian Engagement Report
On November 17, 2012 was a day that my family received amazing news about my sister’s engagement. Hearing about the engagement, we were all ecstatic, because she was starting a new journey in her life. I know that God has a plan for them throughout their life together as they unite as one flesh. To start things off right, they both attended pre-marriage counseling at Harvest Christian Fellowship, where they both grew spiritually and closer to one another. On the other side my grandma, mom, and my other sister all got together to start planning this big day with the bride-to-be. There was a lot to be done because we wanted to make my sister feel loved and have a wedding that she will cherish for the rest of her life. After a year and a half, …show more content…
Going through the process they didn’t expect to give out so much information about themselves. The reasons why pastors ask about the individual’s information is because they need to be able to know both, so that they can be equipped for their marriage. Once, they finished communicating with the pastors they were given mentors who had went through the same process as they did. The mentors they had were extremely helpful and helped them prepare for their bonding relationship with one another as they begin their new journey together. I decided to ask my sister how everything was going so far and if she liked it, she said, “I didn’t expect it to be so challenging, but I feel like this was the best decision for Peter and I, because not only are we growing in our faith with the Lord, we are growing closer together.” Hearing this warmed my heart because I knew God, was working with them as they prepare for their marriage. The completion of pre-marriage counseling was something that they both enjoyed, and now they can prepare for their wedding. Although the planning of the wedding is a long process we all helped one another in making sure everything was set to go. The reservations for the wedding were set for Harvest Christian Fellowship, and the reception was at the Riverside Convention

Abstract Baptism, associated greatly with the Christian religion, did not originate with John the Baptist as many would assume from well-known Bible stories. Rituals and Practices are very important in Full Gospel Baptist Churches. So many things revolve around these simple but important rituals. Over thousands of years Baptism has been a tradition in the Church and Christian communities all over the world. Most rituals are performed in a church of choice by a priest who has been…

After reading several of my classmate’s posts from last week I have discover that not many of them had premarital counseling and I feel that the following approach will work best. In today’s society so many marriages end in divorce therefore I feel that it is imperative that couples seek marriage counseling before they get married. In Hatcher’s (2014) post she stated “I feel that premarital counseling should be mandatory before couples are able to get married.” Premarital counseling is put in place to have couples understand one another in a deeper more freely way. An Appropriate approach for premarital counseling should be one that explore spiritual beliefs, Christian values, commitment and expectations, how to handle conflict and solving problems, priorities on career, children, money, hobbies, future plans, friends, and stress that a Christian wedding is a scared event. A questionnaire as well as couple exercises and homework given to the couple to better understand when is going on and what areas need work. In Mendez’s post (2014) he stated that he would have “gained the most insight from the opportunity to better understand the future my wife envisioned…” (para. 2). Exploring the future plans with couples would give them some insight of what each one of them have envisioned for their future. A great way to do this would be exercises or homework. According to Hawkins (1991), God intended for the husband and wife to function as a team, but Satan placed a wedge between them; but Christ came to restore man (p.13).…

I met Meghan on a double date with my boyfriend and his best friend Corey. We all went to dinner and then were going to go see a movie afterwards. The conversation started because Matt and I asked her and Corey if they would be ok with us giving thanks for our meal. She was not surprised we wanted to pray, but was surprised that it was not just the generic “God is good, God is great, thank you for the food we ate.”…

Recently, the center tries to find the effective way to reach out people who need the center’s help and to meet the needs of patients. One way the center spread the gospel to the community is approaching people, serving more patients, keeping the relationship, and meeting their needs. Many underserved populations may not know that the center can help them. Some patients come to the center for help by themselves, but most of the time the center reaches out to them. The center goes to grocery stores in the community and promotes the center to people who do not know about this facility.…

Buddhism is one of the most popular religions in the world. It can be traced back to 563 B.C.E. with the birth of Siddhartha Gautama. He is more commonly known as the Buddha, meaning the “Awakened One”. Buddhism spread quickly throughout Asia and other regions of the world but it remained virtually unknown in the West until the last fifty years. The teachings and practices of Buddhism were spread through three main channels: “Western scholars; the work of philosophers, writers and artists; and the arrival of Asian immigrants who have brought various forms of Buddhism with them to Europe, North America and Australia” (BuddhaNet.net, 2008). My mother, Nguyen Thi Lien Kirk (Lien), and her two close friends, Nhu Lan Nguyen (Lan) and Cuc Pigeon (Cuc), are three examples of immigrants from Vietnam who brought the ideals of Buddhism to the United States following the Vietnam War.…

As I do not practice any religion, I thought that for the religious experience project, I would write about my observations as my sister rekindles her faith and practice in Roman Catholicism. My sister and I were both raised Catholic by our parents and both attended Sunday school where our grandmother was our teacher. However, after our parents divorced about 17 years ago, we both strayed away from our faith. I went on to keep an open mind and learn of other religions but never found my fit. My sister has recently started to return to Catholicism, expressing her desire to have her child baptized someday. For this paper, I asked if I could accompany her to mass for the first time in 17 years at our childhood church, St. Cecilia Catholic Church…

I arrived to a church crowded with friends and family. So many people had gone to St. John’s Cathedral to witness the simple, yet elegant, tradition. There were also relatives from Mexico and Puerto Rico who took the long tiring trip to attend. I was honored to see so many people there on my special day. My court of honor led the way into the church. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, soft music was played by the organist. I felt like a princess walking in my big, beautiful ball gown. My gown was similar to a wedding dress except it was a pastel pink. When the ceremony started it was nerve racking. I was thinking about my hair and people staring at me from behind, and hoping my tiara or…
