He was president from April 12, 1945 to January 20, 1953, he took over just before World War 2 ended, went through the Korean war, and went through part of the Cold war. When Truman took office Franklin D. Roosevelt died about three months after and close to the same time he had to make the choice of dropping the atomic bombs on Japan to end the war. Which to date are the only atomic bombs used in war. Truman had one of the hardest presidencies out of all of them because of all the decisions he had to make that have not been topped.…

Truman Capote was born on September 30, 1924 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His writing would redefine how crime stories were written and paved the way for a brand new style of writing. Capote’s early life was very difficult relating his childhood to being, “a spiritual orphan, like a turtle on its back.” His mother had sent him to live with his relatives before he could even talk; completely stepping out of the picture for almost nine years. When his parents finally reintroduced themselves into Capote’s life they were divorced and often abused him; using him as a medium to attack the other over a custody battle. It was eventually decided that Capote would live with his mother full time in 1932. His mother, Lillie Mae, also…

After Roosevelt's death I became president and helped end WWII. You have said that you were only senator because of your husband's death, however the senate isn’t hereditary. How could this have happened? Was your place in senate possibly illegally obtained?…

What qualifies someone to be a good president? Sadly, not everyone can be president, and a good lot of people should never be put in any type of leadership role. A president should be compassionate, intellectual, and conviction. A man who I believe has all of these qualities is president Theodore Roosevelt, throw in animal magnetism, a sharp wit, and a sparkling personality and you have one of the best presidents our country has ever seen.…

Countless members like Secretary of War Henry Stimson, also didn’t’ approve of the idea of using the nuclear weapon, however couldn’t find an alternative solution. The dangerous nuclear weapons “stopped the fire raids, and the strangling blockade; it ended the ghastly specter of a clash of great land armies” (Henry Stimson, Document 3). Again others argue that this is a crime against God and humanity. However, like mentioned earlier from the source of ethics the utilitarian approach back up our country’s decision. I agree using this destructive weapon to end a dispute isn’t ideal, but to an extent Truman had to lookout for our country.…

A President’s Role During the Second World War, about 350,000 Americans died compared to the 7 million Russians that were sacrificed. By focusing on the negative aspects of the atomic bomb dropping, one may overlook the fact that a president’s first priority is to protect and secure the welfare of his/her people and Truman did just that by dropping the bomb. Chief Executive Harry S. Truman fully knew that his decision to drop the atomic bomb would cause damage beyond imagination, but he had no other choice because the Japanese were reluctant and were highly unlikely to surrender. Even with the sea blockade enforced by the United States, the Japanese displayed little to no sign of giving up. President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic…
