Harrison Bergeron Hero
When people hear hero, they think of the usual fiction characters like Superman, Spiderman, or Captain America. They don’t think about any characters they read about in stories. One like Harrison Bergeron. Readers either think he was a hero to society or a threat to it. I think Harrison was truly a hero for being the only individual who had the courage to stand up and doing the right thing. My first reason why I think he was a hero is that he stood up for what he thought was right by himself. Though one person rebelled with him, Phillipa, but she discontinued after she was lobotomized or, being surgically operated to reduce mental capacity as in the movie Harrison Bergeron. He didn’t want to lie to society and say that all he revealed was a lie on national television so instead he shot himself to prove a point. Basically he would rather die for society’s sake. My second and final reason why I think Harrison is a hero is because he practically started another revolution. This is shown in the movie Harrison Bergeron. At the end, you can two boys hanging out and eventually watching Bergeron’s broadcast, without their bands that restricted their natural intelligence which was obviously against the government. This was them rebelling against …show more content…
The reasons for that is because it was such a big thing for society to take in. Who knows how people will rebel. Taking their bands off, violently protesting, etc., so maybe society was just fine how it was. This reason doesn’t make any sense though. Of course people will rebel violently or riot, but that is an effective way to get your point across. Take the Kent State Riots as an example. People rioted and protested against the US expanding the Vietnam War into Cambodia. These riots became nationwide and President Nixon eventually withdrew troops from Cambodia. Many successful riots prove that something bad can turn out to be

What makes John Paul Jones a hero? John Paul Jones was a brave, smart, and strong man; just like a hero would be. Jones is a hero because he didn’t let the British get the advantage. He destroyed the Serapis, which was one of the U.S.’s goals. If he had not done what he did, the people on his ship would have died, and the U.S. wouldn’t have had such a great achievement. The British on the Serapis were going to attack John Paul Jones and the people on his ship. However, Jones did not let that happen, and today, he is considered a hero for what he did for his people, and for this…

Equality isn’t always the best thing; sometimes it can be worse than you think. I think that There are Two Sides to Every Hero. Carnegie had courage to do whatever it took and in his later life he had concern for others because he gave away all his money. Although, he lacked integrity because in his working years he only cared about himself and his money. This is still important because he as a big part of our history believe it or not. Heroism is also a big part in our lives because who doesn’t have a hero and it’s always around us in some shape or form. Honestly, you don’t have to care what I think because you may think that Andrew Carnegie was a horrible person and that’s fine because it’s your point of view a hero can have different qualities it’s all up to you it’s your hero not…

My target audience would range from 16-25. Young people these days engage in politics in a variety of ways. They engage by debating and sharing insights and opinions on various issues whether it’s discussions with friends or postings on blogs; They engage by signing petitions; They attend rallies and protests on issues we regard as important; They volunteer there time and energy to organizations. They are media savvy, questioning what is often presented(I know I have grandchildren) and they stay pretty well informed! I suspect that although most youth enroll and vote in local, state and federal elections, They find there participation in the less formal settings more meaningful and effective. That’s probably because They are sceptical about the intentions of our leaders and the impact that our vote will make. Nevertheless, I think that for the most part, young people are very much engaged in different ways.Young people will be able to understand the core reading easier than people of older generations due to the fact that young people are more open to the idea of individualism. As older generations are use routine.I feel that I can understand my audience because I have always been a person that likes to stand up for myself and I am all about self expression and equality.…

A hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. These heros put their best selves forward in service to help humanity. Heros take action on behalf of others that are in need. Andrew Carnegie was in fact was a hero. This subject can be controversial because of the fact that Carnegie gave away money after he died, and not while he was alive. Carnegie started off in a very poor family and eventually became very wealthy. This shows the world that anyone can be rich, even if they were born into a poor family. Andrew Carnegie reached a high level of success in money and power and is considered a hero because he showed the qualities of a hero like being caring and generous by donating his money…

“All men are created equal” these are the words of Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson believed we should live in a world like this, but are we meant to live in a society where everyone is equal and normal? The ideas of egalitarianism can be dangerous if they are interpreted too literally. The agonizing and frustrating normal world in which “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. shows a civilization in which being normal is the only life style that people can live. Beauty is not beauty in this story; in fact it is the complete opposite. Can someone reach their full potential without feeling good about themselves? Is it possible to live life in a world like this? Potential, freedom, and beauty are all abominations in the society of “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., but they are all but abolished in this generation of “normal people” where being unique is deemed as illegal. No one is better, everyone is worse. But in a world where the extraordinary is outlawed, only the outlaws are extraordinary.…

In my opinion Louis Riel was a hero because he fought for the rights of everyone who lived in the northwest, he was rebelling against a government, not a country and he was against acts of violence and loss of life. Furthermore Louis's acts might be considered crazy by today's standards but in the 1890's it was not uncommon or insane. Louis lived in the Red River settlement and wanted to protect their rights but he also fought for the rights of the white settlers in the area and for the natives. Louis was a patriot, he was proud to be Canadian, he just didn't agree with the government at the time.…

In my opinion I think that Oliver Cromwell is a hero because he created the New Model Army which was one of the best armies that the world has seen-well fed, paid and were motivated. The typical Parliamentarian soldier said, “You need pros. You need ability not nobility. Cromwell alone understands that. The king died not because he started the Civil War but because he betrayed the Parliament’s trust” Nevertheless using this army Oliver killed 7000 Irish Catholics, captured Drogheda, besieged Wexford. “His body was wrapped tightly wrapped and his coffin was lined with lead. But his stench still broke out and his name and memory will stink even more” This is quote from James Heath. A Gaelic woman said “ Cromwell forced us from our homes and that he nailed a baby”…
