Hardworker: My High School Career
Hardworker
I have worked and pushed myself through my high school career from taking all non honors classes my freshman year, to honors my sophomore year, to then most of my classes being AP my junior and senior year. I have worked hard to get good grades and pushed myself into taking classes that would not only challenge me, but put me out of my comfort zone. Yet I have always been a hard worker. My parents such as myself are immigrants, I had to work hard entering a foreign school system where neither I or my parents knew the language. Easy homework tasks were difficult to complete yet I worked hard to get at the level of my peers by checking out books at the library and forcing myself to attempt to understand the words on the page. Education has always been one of the most important things to me, and I am dedicated to learn as much as humanly possible. Throughout my high school career I have challenged myself by completing six advanced placement classes and taking other honors classes. I have taken these classes as a way to help guide myself for what is to come in the future in college. I was inducted into the National Honors Society during my junior year of high school, and I graduated with honors. Both of these successes are the two greatest accomplishments of my high school career. These two achievements prove how dedicated I was, and still am, to getting the best education I could. My quality of dedication will stick with me throughout my future endeavors.…

Throughout my entire life, I have found that hard work and dedication can help me achieve any goal that I set. I have overcome the separation and lack of decent parents, incarceration of my oldest brother, and many other events with the morals and skills that were taught to me by my grandparents (who are my legal guardians). Due to their influence and love, I have always put my best foot forward and looked at the world with optimism. Since the second grade, I have been in gifted/honor courses, exceeded through my classes, and have made many friends. My backbone does not consist of selfish desires or influences; it consists of my morals and the family and friends that I do have pushing me to change the world.…

In life, there are periods of transition in which individuals often face daunting challenges or obstacles. Overcoming these challenges at pivotal points of transition can impel the individual to develop essential character qualities and skills for surmounting adversity. My transition into high school was momentous. Here I knew that the decisions I made would likely have a strong impact on my future. Therefore, I had to be meticulous about the extracurricular activities I wanted to be involved in. This mindset allowed me to stay focused and determined because I wasn't focused on going to the next party or the new music that was out. I cared solely about the legacy I left behind. That is why I decided to run for student government at the end…

I could not agree with this more. There is nothing most significant to me than developing a strong work ethic to help achieve my goals in a classroom or a soccer field while also applying it in my everyday life. I strongly believe that all my hard work will soon pay off in a form of a college degree, high paying job, or even becoming a professional soccer player and there isn’t anything that can stop me from achieving those goal if I do my best and stay focus. First off, I became the first member from my family to attend college while getting the chance to play soccer. When I graduated from high school, I realize I wanted a better life for my family since my parents came to the U.S. from an extremely poor part of Mexico and my life transformation would begin by attending college. Being successful in college became a huge responsibility because I made a huge commitment to my parents. I did my best to manage going to all my classes, play soccer and still somehow found energy to work on the weekends. I remember having to train extra after soccer practice and doing all my homework in the bus rides to our soccer games while still finishing my sophomore year with a 3.5 GPA. In my last year in Spartanburg Methodist College, I was able to graduate with an associate degree in business and manage to have a successful soccer year by receiving an All-American honor and getting a scholarship to Coastal Carolina.…

High school is one of the biggest transitions in a person's early life. You go from being at the top in your school to the bottom. For me, it was very hard to adjust to this change. On my first day of high school, I walked into first period so nervous I thought I was going to get sick. This is much like what happened during my transition into middle school. On the first day at Mazzuchelli, right before the first class began, I threw up all over the floor of the classroom. I’m not a big fan of change. To make matters worse, the first week of high school was outrageously hot. The combination of the heat and my nerves made me sweat uncontrollably. At the time, I felt very self conscious of sweating during class. As bad as these first few days…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…

Working hard has never been a problem in my life; it 's the question of "Will it ever be enough," that plagues my mind. I am from London, Ohio, which is a small town twenty minutes west of Columbus. The town in which I grew up is predominantly white; blacks make up about 5% of the total population. By the standards of our society I am within that 5%, being born of a black man and a white woman. It wasn 't far along in my education that I learned I started behind. Not only was I African-American but a member of the poor working class. The school system was a decent one, but it doesn 't compare to that of private schools. A private Catholic High School that is twenty minutes from where I live ranked among the top in the state involving Senior Graduation test score with 97% passing. My public school was nowhere near that with only 60% that passed all sections. My father would always tell me, "You can 't squeeze a dollar from a penny," now I know the truth in that. Having only so much to work with, working hard barely competes with a $4,000 a year high school education.…

High School was a great experience. Not only did it teach me about Math, History and English, but it also taught me about choices and consequences. I had several close friends who did not get the same experience that I did. One of my friends had a rough start in life. At the end of our junior year she became pregnant with her first child. We started our senior year ready to celebrate our high school years coming to an end. She had so many plans for after high school. As the school year went on she expressed to me how her child father was being very supportive at first, but recently felt that he was no longer treating her the same.…

I became a sophomore just one year ago and I have enjoyed every bit of the High School. I’ve met new friends and I have seen some old good friends. I have appreciated what I have right now in school, grade and teacher wise. All of the teachers have been extremely helpful throughout the time I have been in High school. For the first few months of High school I had some bummed out times. I was bummed out because I was disappointed that I didn’t have any classes with any of my friends. I figured if I had at least one or two classes with my friends it would be another awesome year like ninth grade was when I had almost all of my classes with at least one of my friends.…
