1.Mumbai: 5 dead in wall collapse after explosion in chemical factory Mumbai: Five people were killed and seven others injured after the wall of a house collapsed following an explosion in a makeshift aluminium mould producing unit at Sakinaka area in Andheri. The police said that the explosion was caused by a vacuum in the machines that were being used to produce aluminum moulds. What aggravated the situation was the nitrogen liquid that was being used at the factory, they said. "We have not found anything suspicious so far but we will investigate from all angles. There are teams from fire brigade and forensics. Factory inspectors and the police are also investigating," Additional Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil told NDTV. A team of the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) also rushed to the sport; Mr Patil, however, ruled out any sabotage angle. Police are investigating if the factory had necessary permits and a case is likely to be registered against the owner of the factory. The people who died were sleeping in a house adjoining the factory compound called Mahi Industries. Because of the explosion, the wall collapsed and five people were crushed to death. Among those killed are three women. "We came here after hearing people crying for help. We helped an old man escape," said Sartaj Ahmed, an eyewitness. "After the voice of the explosion we woke up. We came out and saw lot of smoke," said a local resident. 2.Group of 11 men forcibly enter house, beat girl, family in Amritsar Amritsar: In a shocking incident, a group of eleven men forcibly gained entry in the house of a 21-year-old girl whom they were following and severely beat her and her family members in Amritsar on Thursday. Police Commissioner Ram Singh said the incident took place in the evening when the boys began passing vulgar comments on seeing the girl, who was returning home after attending tuition classes. The situation turned ugly turn when the boys followed her home where her parents rebuked them. They then manhandled the girl and her family members besides threatening them of dire consequences if the matter was reported to police, Mr Singh said.According to the family, the girl suffered a fracture in her right leg in the melee. 3.'Drunk' police officers in SUV allegedly kill woman in Noida on Holi Noida: A woman was killed and three others were injured in Noida when they were hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) allegedly driven by drunk police officers on Wednesday evening. The officers, from Bisrakh police station, allegedly got drunk while celebrating Holi and went on a ride in the SUV, a white Tata Safari. Witnesses said they saw the SUV leave the police station at high speed and hit two women and two children passing by. The vehicle went out of control and rammed into a wall, killing one woman. One of the police officers has been identified as Rajiv and a case registered. "We are investigating if he was drunk," said a police officer. It is not known who the SUV belongs to. The injured have been admitted in hospital. 4.Mulayam Singh Yadav may withdraw support, but our govt will last its term, says Prime Minister On Board Air India One: On his way back to India from South Africa last night, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh admitted there was the possibility that Samajawadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav might pull the rug from under the Congress-led UPA government, but also said he was confident his government would complete its full term. "Obviously coalitions face issues. Sometimes, they give the impression that these arrangements are not very stable and I cannot deny that those possibilities exist. But I am confident our government will complete five years and that the next Lok Sabha elections will take place on schedule," Dr Singh said on board Air India One while returning from the BRICS summit in Durban.
