Halleujah Chorus: Song Analysis
Listening to 3 different version of the song at times was quiet harder than you think. You would think after hearing the 3 songs play over and over, you would be able to hear all the differences and similarities between them but that's not the case. The song “Hallelujah Chorus” is a beautiful peace that has been made into many versions. After listening to the three different version of the same song “Hallelujah Chorus”, I was able to hear some slight difference and similarities between them. First off, the form for all three songs were constructed the same in terms of how the verses were played. Because this song is widely use for many things from advertisement to movies etc. a lot of people immediately know to tune to the song as it starts

This poem, Praise Song for the Day by Elizabeth Alexander, is one of the most memorable poems that have been recited within the last 20 years. Immediately after President Obama was sworn into office, Elizabeth Alexander recited her poem to the masses that had gathered on that cold winter day in January. The piece is full of symbolism, with the tone being hopeful, inspiring and thankful. The poem begins with a description of daily life which is filled with the daily grind of hard working individuals, often doing the work that drives this great nation of ours…small businesses, blue-collar laborers, honorable professions such as teaching.…

I listened to the Latin American praise song “Te Doy Gloria” and I listened to the Christian praise song “endless praise” by Planetshakers. “Te Doy Gloria” message was giving Jesus the glory and just magnifying how wonderful Jesus is. The song Endless Praise by Planetshakers has a similar message, also singing to glorify Jesus and how we should praise him continually. Both of these songs are glorifying Jesus and the importance of how we should lift the name of Jesus on high. Also, both songs proclaim the beauty and wonder of Jesus but do this in different ways. Although, after listening to both a couple of times I still like the song “endless praise” the most. The reason I like this song better is because it goes more in depth about Jesus and…

In 1979, The Knack performed one of their hit singles “My Sharona” in front of a packed house. This song represented the alternative/pop rock genre, and was considered a major hit in the late 1970s. As a child, I remember hearing the song on the radio and I enjoyed the catchy and memorable tune. Although I did not quite understand the lyrics at the time, my dad listened to it often when he worked in the garage. This essay will first describe a variety of important musical characteristics that are displayed within the performance. Next, it will discuss how this song was a launchpad for a future song that became just as popular a few years later. Lastly, before providing my own personal critique, I will discuss how the song assisted The Knack with getting back together nearly 20…

8-11 Sentence Paragraph Assignment During the expressive songs chanted by the Goblins, the reader is experiencing their whim to devour the company, that includes Bilbo, dwarves, and Gandalf. When the Goblins are singing both songs, they display eagerness towards captivity of the group, which gives readers a sense of relentlessness. For example, in the first song, Goblin-Town is focusing on the approach they have incorporated on captivating the group, snatching, grabbing, nipping, and pinching. Additionally, in the second Goblin song, they are ruthless towards the company, setting the trees ablaze, dancing, taunting the group making them feel dishonored and worthless. Furthermore, the Goblins show no concern on whether the dwarves…

In the midst of mourning and healing after the death of two beloved band members, The Allman Brothers Band released the album ‘Brothers and Sisters’ on August 1st in 1973. During the recording of the band’s previous album ‘Eat a Peach’ in 1971 Duane Allman, the lead guitarist and co-founder of the band, died tragically in a motorcyle accident. Heartbreakingly, the band had to endure the death of another bandmate, Berry Oakley at the age of 24. Much like the death of Duane Allman, Berry died mid-recording of the album ‘Brothers and Sisters’ due to a motorcycle accident just a few blocks away from where Duane’s accident occurred. Berry Oakley’s talent remained on the first two tracks of the album, ‘Wasted Words’ and ‘Ramblin’ Man’.…

WHY: Three years ago I was in a really dark place in life and began to shut out a lot of amazing people that cared about me. One of those amazing people was my best friend Taylor. It was during these times that Taylor and I had began to fight and slowly drift apart. We drifted so far apart that I didn't even know she moved to California till 3 weeks after the fact. For the next year or so we hardly talked, maybe a text here and there but nothing to hearty. It wasn't until one month I randomly get a text from her saying that She loved me and that I should listen to this song and so I did. Ever since then, anytime I'm having a bad…

In George Frederic Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, the music grows from simple to complex, as in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Dies Irae. Hallelujah, like many other masses, praises God's almightiness, and lets the audience feel the power of God. The piece starts off it a modest "hallelujah" sung in unison, where the music seems quite free. When the piece begins to praise God, the music enters a firmer, more commanding tone, as the choir sings, "for the Lord Omnipotent reigneth." When declaring the epithets for the God, such as "king of kings" and "lord of lords," the voices of the choir turn forte and there are consecutive flat tones, for emphasis. When the music enters into, "The kingdom of this world...," it is piano, symbolizing something unimportant. It grows louder with "is become the," and suddenly, it is forte with "the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and of His Christ," which symbolizes its importance. Handel pushes the repetition of "forever and ever" to make the meaning, God ruling for eternity, match the repetitive form, while the violin in the background adds complexity to the sound.…

The song “Scars to your beautiful” written by Alessia Cara, sends out a message to women growing up with societies rigid beauty standards to love them selves. This song gives me a feeling of disgust as it revealed to me how disturbing society’s expectations are, targeting vulnerable young women and making them feel as though they are not enough. The lyrics also gives me a sense of sadness in the realization that so many girls are effected by societies expectation and the anxiety it causes. the opening verse sets the tone for the rest of the song with the statement “She just wants to be beautiful”. This is a common occurrence in todays society as there is so much emphasis on appearances.…

So I am very into the "indie" genre of music, and one of my favorite sub-genres from that is called "witch house". It's very strange, it reminds me of what would be playing late at night when something supernatural is about to happen. That is not what this song is, but it's what I thought it was going to be. I was really surprised when it started playing, it was upbeat and had soothing quality to it. The mixture of the music and the singer’s voice makes me feel so calm, it's almost hypnotic I just want to sway along with the song.…

The next song I chose is Arsonist’s Lullabye by Hozier. The reason I chose this one is pretty self-explanatory, Philip murdered Mr. Fairview by setting fire to the Garage. However, the lyrics that specifically go along with that event in the book are “I’d sit for hours, staring into open flame, something in it had a power…” and “all you have is your fire… don’t you ever tame your demons, but always keep ‘em on a leash…” The “demon” that Hozier refers to could easily be the ghost of Philip’s dad for Philip, and he expresses that he needs to keep control over the “demon”. Philip would most likely relate to that because he blindly trusted his dad’s ghost, which resulted in him killing the wrong man, hence why he needs to “keep him on a leash”.…

Lieder ohne Worte (Song without Words) is written by the Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. It is a collection of forty-eight short lyrical piano pieces of markedly song-like character that he wrote at various periods of his life between 1809 and 1847. They are well suited to the study of musical form because of their artistic value. Op. 19b, No. 1 Andante con moto in E major was written in 1830 and is the first in the collection. The piece is in the key of E major and modulates from E to B to G major.…

After Jeff Buckley released a version of this song on his record Hallelujahs journey to success began. Hallelujah was recorded and sang by over 100 artist, ranging from U2, Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi, and Willie Nelson. Jeff Buckley said “Whoever listens carefully to Hallelujah will discover that it is a song about sex, about love, about life on earth. The hallelujah is not an homage to a worshipped person, idol, or god, but the hallelujah of the orgasm. It’s an ode to life and love.” On the other hand Leonard Cohen suggested “Hallelujah is a Hebrew word which means Glory to the Lord.” In Lights article he showed that people took the meanings however they want and the song can go with any situation. Jeff Buckley’s version was played after a 9/11 tribute. “The faith, hope, and happiness it brings is why Hallelujah has survived so many decades,” Light stated. Many versions of the song have been played elsewhere to fulfill faith, hope, and happiness. “Various versions have been played at funerals and weddings,” Light stated. The Whisper Song Analysis

In 2005, the Ying Yang Twins released “one of the greatest rap songs about sex”, titled “Wait (The Whisper Song)”. This song hit “No. 3 on Billboard's R&B/hip-hop singles chart, is up for best rap performance by a duo or a group” (Ollison 2006); however, was unabashedly misogynistic. This song received incredible praise for its brilliant use of “sexy whispering”. This song apparently needs special recognition for being “simultaneously ratchet and romantic. The words might be foul, but the Twins' presentation would make Barry White proud” (Gonzales 2013). We observe that the video and audio simultaneously work together to actively reinforce and perpetuate the preconceived stereotypes of black males in the media and women as victims or sexual objects. “Wait” re-secures hegemonic masculinity viewing males as having power-over and females as being submissive.…
