Halal Logistics Case Study
Background of study
This research conducted in order to study about the ability of technology in halal logistics. This research will conduct in Johor. The company chosen for this research is a logistics company. This is because they provide very important services in logistics, which is transportation service. As we know, nowadays, Malaysia becomes the main centre of halal hub, as Malaysia is one of the Muslim countries where it is highlighting on the halal supply chain. It means, in the concept farm to fork, all the processes should abide the Syariah Law that is compulsory for muslim consumers. Halal logistics needed because most consumers in our country are Muslim who have to abide to their syariah law. In addition, the technology to facilitate logistics service provider being halal certified based on halal compliance is very low. With that, it gives an impact to logistic service provider to get halal certification.
In halal logistics, the major components of halal logistic services are the operation of the transportation. For transporting halal goods, there are risks to the halal goods transported with non-halal goods. By not using halal logistics in transportation, halal goods will mix along with non-halal goods that give an effect to the halal status of the halal goods transported. Halal goods and non-halal goods should be segregated from each of one in order to avoid cross contamination that will affect the halal status of the goods. This study is important because consumer in our country mostly is a Muslim who needs to abide the syariah law.
Objective
1. To explore the current situation of Halal Logistics industry
2. To study about the requirement of technology for halal certification process for halal logistics based on MS2400-2010 vol1, 2, 3.
3. To suggest the required characteristics of technology in order to assist LSPs in applying halal certification.
