Hundreds of year ago, the majority of people thought that high education is the key to success. But, during the 20th century, the state of affairs changed a lot. High education or university degrees are no longer the top choices for those who want to be successful; especially in entrepreneurship. This essay will list some reasons why university qualification is needed for some people while running business and some reasons why it is not the only pathway leads to success.
Firstly, one benefit of university studies is that the process of studying in campus may help people build up a very concrete business network in the future. To do business well an entrepreneur needs to create a good connection or partnership. Some specific businesses, however, require direct connection between specialists within the business and specialists within the university, professor Wilson (2012) states. Ryan Bonifacino, as an example, in 2004, he exploited thoroughly his fraternity network and successfully built up Bozmedia company (Torres, 2006). To conclude, getting into university means having more opportunities to cooperate when people doing business.
Next, the reputation of campus where people take part in is also a factor for successful business. In terms of reputation, investors are more likely to sponsor young businessmen who have a concrete background than non-degree holder. In addition, the reputation of an educational institution is fairly important as long as "it is the way scholars decide whom to do business with, where they will go for their next career move" (Baty cited in Jacobs 2014). As a result, people will easily attract investment if they have a good qualification.
