Hae Min Lee Case Analysis

The murder case of Hae Min Lee is full of unanswered questions. Adnan Syed, 17 at the time of the murder is now a 36-year-old man who had the potential to make a difference in our world. However, his peers betrayed him and he was falsely convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, which led to several trials. There have been unproven testimonies and possible alibies, but none that add up to a clear and concise answer. Although there is evidence from both sides proclaiming Adnan’s guilt and innocence; from what I have gathered, this case can only lead to his innocence. Personally, I believe Adnan is innocent because there’s not enough substantial evidence to prove that he is guilty.
The only reason Adnan Syed remains in prison now is due to Jay’s ever-changing
Jay has been inconsistent with each story he has ever told. In each interview, he would change parts of the story he had previously shared. It is baffling to me that Adnan’s friend, Jay, a small town drug dealer, manages to convince the jury that he is a believable source in the murder case. It is likely that the reason the jurors had so much faith in Jay was because he was the only evidence the jury had to lean on. Other than Adnan’s handprint in Lee’s car, it would be ludicrous to say that Adnan murdered Hae Min Lee. During the first interview, Jay claimed that he heard Adnan say he wants to kill Hae Min Lee, then the next day he was shown Lee’s body and Jay helped Adnan get rid of it. In the next interview, Jay insists that Adnan mentioned a few weeks before, he would kill Hae Min Lee. Jay’s timeline, inconsistent as it is, shows that Hae Min Lee was strangled in the parking lot of Best Buy before 2:36 P.M.
