Learning to synergize can be easy or tough for me depending on who I’m going to team up/work with but it’s worth a shot since I know that I can’t do everything on my own. Truly, I find it easier and more convenient to decide on something or work with a problem when you have someone to help you other than yourself…it’s like sharing the weight of your burdens and to lessen them. Also, listening to other people’s opinions is very helpful in learning something about themselves and the one that they’re talking about. I don’t think I shun diversity as I am not afraid of differences or maybe just a little bit but I accept it because for me, that’s all there is to it. You can’t just make someone change to someone he/she is not. I cannot also say that I tolerate diversity. True, everyone has the right to be different but tolerators don’t embrace diversity so I’m definitely not a tolerator of diversity. Adjusting to differences and changes is hard but it’s a part of the process and is all worth it.
Roadblocks to celebrating differences:
I get clueless a lot of times already but being a total ignorant maybe a few times but I try not to be.
Being a part of a certain group of friends or a clique might be cool as it does not make you friendless or a total loner but I think it’s more fun having an open clique or being an open person. I have my group of friends and I also have friends outside of my group and I find it fun and happier. Stereotyping, labeling, pre-judging, and racism are all lame, hurtful, and sickening.
I admit, the getting to synergy action plan looks easy but it is definitely not but I am fascinated with the results of finding the best solutions to make everyone happy. It’s like a guideline to win-win.
Teamwork and synergy
I agree that a great team should have different types of people like the; 1.) Plodders - who stick to the job until it’s done. 2.) The followers- who are very supportive and that can cooperate with a great idea. 3.) The Innovator-

When it comes to teamwork, most people will consider teamwork in terms of being part of a baseball, basketball, or football team. In contrast, a team is “really just a group of people who use their skills, experience, and knowledge to work toward a common goal” (Beverly K. Bachel, 2007). Teams working together in the workplace are extremely productive and profitable. Teams working together increase problem-solving skills and innovation, quality, and decrease turnover and absenteeism. (Scarnati, J 2006) Teams have an overall high success rate when well structured and the communication between the team members stays open throughout the project. A team is a collection of individuals who have gathered to achieve the same…

To have a team that works well and is effective you need to have strong individuals who will work well together, a mix of different people with different strengths would be a good choice, but all would need to have some basic team working skills these include the ability to support each other, have the same goals, communicate effectively, be reliable, enthusiastic and have consistency. Each individual team member should be completely clear on their own roles and responsibilities included in their job description and confident in their role within the setting, if a staff member is not confident or is unsure they should be fully able to approach the team leader/manager to voice their concerns at this point managers or leaders would be able to provide necessary training or support and supervision. A team will work more effectively if they have confidence and respect for their leader/manager, someone who is able to confidently deal with situations, provide support where necessary and be a good role model. By having people on your team who are strong and confident you will achieve the best outcome for your setting, when looking for employees you should consider their roles as team players by assessing skills such as communication, can they communicate effectively within the team. Activeness, are they likely to be an active part of the team and do an equal share. Good listener, by this I mean someone who can not only listen to individuals but also act effectively such as receive constructive criticism. Reliability, are they someone who is going to be on time and meet deadlines and be consistent with their work.…

2.1 Effective teamwork is essential to the success of any business. As “no man is an island,” the positive effects of productive teamwork can energise an entire organisation, just as the negative effects of a lack of teamwork can cripple an organisation. An essential ingredient to effective teamwork is attracting and keeping the right team members. No matter how hard a group of people try to work together and create an effective team, without the right people for the job, the team will inevitably fail.…

Throughout my undergraduate program, there were many times when I had to work in diverse groups. The most important part about working in a diverse group is treating everyone as an equal. This can be hard at times, however, there needs to be an understanding that not everyone in the group will have the same ideas. Having a diverse group is great though, because the group can look at things from more than one point of view. While at Capella University, I have had to write papers on working with diverse populations. The main ideas for the papers were to do research on the population in order to get a better understanding of the population. At the practicum in Atlanta, my partner was an African American woman from Africa. We each drew four pictures that would describe our lives and have to figure out what we were trying to talk about. It was an eye-opening experience that showed us even though we were brought up in diverse populations we all still had some similarities. I think it is important to find similar traits between diverse populations so a trusted relationship can…

Open discussion, feedback, active listening, and flexible decision-making are all necessary to have in a diverse group (Fritz, 2013). An experience I have had working with a group that was very well diverse was in my freshman year Philosophy class. Since this class was a general requirement age my group members ranged from the age 18-26 (different school standings). We all shared the commonality of the class and being students but our views, race, gender varied. However, this group was very successful and it was very good to hear all points of views. We all learned a lot about each other but at times it was challenging to agree upon what was important and what was going to get us a better…

Bringing together people with different backgrounds and abilities will give you better solutions. According to Chowney (2016) “Valuing differences is what really drives synergy. Do you truly value the mental, emotional, and psychological differences among people? Or do you wish everyone would just agree with you so you could all get along? Many people mistake uniformity for unity; sameness for oneness. One word--boring! Differences should be seen as strengths, not weaknesses. They add zest to life” (para 4)…
