The HOSA (organization) is known as the Health Occupations Students of America which is a national career and technical students organization endorsed by the U.S department of education and the health science technology. They also provide a program which has leadership development, motivation, and recognition for secondary, adult, and collegiate students enrolled in health science education and biomedical science programs or even have interests in pursuing careers in health care professions. The hospital average daily census is 80. The operating room averages 325 cases per month and the emergency room provides care to an average of 2300 patients per month. Baptist Memorial Hospital takes pride in delivering quality patient care and recently was awarded the HealthGrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award for the fourth year in a row (Kait8 News, 2013). To meet the health care demands of the community, the hospital is building a new facility. The integrated health care facility includes a 550,000 square foot building with 181 hospital beds (Hoar Construction Healthcare Project, 2013). The 220,000 square foot clinic building connects floor by floor with the inpatient hospital (Hoar Construction Healthcare Project, 2013). The building project also includes a freestanding cancer center as well as administrative offices and a central energy plant (Hoar Construction Healthcare Project, 2013).
