I manage the largest production line ($200 million per year) by both volume and revenue in my department. Since I took responsibility for this production line, I have implemented inventory control strategies that reduce in process inventory by 20%. I have also implemented systems that reduce the potential for operational mistakes during product transitions.
I worked as an engineer intern in five different roles at two Eastman manufacturing locations (Kingsport, TN and Longview, TX). I developed engineering skills while being exposed to a wide range of problems. Assignments included process improvement, capital project coordination, engineering design, and business process improvement. The nomination was the result of a method I developed to predict market growth for Eastman’s existing product offering. This tool tracks the research efforts of both existing and potential customers and predicts when those customers developed a potential new application for one of our products. The final outcome is a trigger for Eastman Technical Services to reach out to this customer to develop a strategic partnership.
