Gun control wont affect murder rates. study's have shown if they ban guns or get stricter gun control laws they will use other weapons to substitute guns. Russia, for example has extremely tight gun control laws. Its murder rate is still quite high in fact its twice as high as our gun ridden United states. So there for banning guns wont get rid of murder. A study revealed that most of the European countries such as Norway, France, Germany, and Finland has significantly lower murder rates. Compare that to Luxembourg where handguns are totally banned and any type of gun is minimal has a murder rate nine time higher than Germany.

    With stricter gun laws such as universal background checks, the deaths across America can decrease immensely. Background checks look for convicted felons, substance abusers, and certain misdemeanors. Background checks also include those of who were involuntarily committed to a mental institution. Once a convicted felon your gun rights are stripped and you can never own a gun again unless your civil rights are restored to you by the state. However, there is plenty of room for error for those who are substance abusers or mentally unstable. Each state varies on how their background check system works, some have highly automated systems while others still use paper records. As well as different background check systems states also have different regulations about how mentally unstable are documented in their computer system. With these two differences among states this allows for a vast majority of substance abusers and mentally unstable people to slip through the background check when they should have easily been found if it were for stricter gun laws. Studies showed that states with more gun laws have forty-two percent less crime than states who are more lenient.
