Gun Control Pros
Injuries from firearms send an estimated 7,000 kids to the ER every year, and an additional 3,000 children die from gunshot wounds before they can get to a hospital, according to a new study published in the journal Pediatrics. While these statistics are shocking, gun control needs to be promoted. In 2011, 10.3 in every 100,000 people in the U.S. were victims of gun-related deaths (Dosomething.org). Gun control has become a dangerous activity in the United States because of many injuries over the years, some intentional and some on accident. It has made the government question if only police officers should be able to own guns because of how unsafe it has become. Many attacks to the public in general involved guns and some people believe it …show more content…
The setting is in a library with two children, one holding a book and one holding a gun. This ad uses logic but stating that, “Little red Riding Hood” is banned from schools, but not a gun. This also makes people question the school system and make them wonder why they ban a book about wine but not enforce gun control safety. The American Flag is in the back of the library which shows that gun control is a big problem in the United States. At the bottom it says “We keep ’Little Red Riding Hood’; out of schools because of the bottle of wine in her basket. Why not assault weapons?”. The little girl who is holding the gun has a major impact on the audience because the audience would feel shocked that a little girl would be holding a gun in a library at a school. The purpose of this ad is to be more aware of the enforcement of gun control and to make sure your children and kids are safe. The kids holding the book and the gun make the audience feel like gun control is a good thing and setting limitations for guns is a positive thing. It is positive because children and older people are not in risk of being harmed because of …show more content…
Both ads are powerful. They both shock you and make you question and think twice about gun control. However, the first ad, in which a gun is pointing directly at you, is ultimately more persuasive, since it’s more realistic. Kids can get hurt when around guns which is an actual outcome. If you forget to lock the trigger on a gun and you can accidentally shoot someone, or if you’re in the woods and think a child is a deer or a different type of animal you are trying to hunt you could accidentally shoot them. The image in the audience’s head is more vivid because the gun is pointing directly at them so they get a sense of what a someone feels like before they get shot. When looking at the photo the audience feels frightened and the caption on the photo makes the photo more deep. It isn’t saying to protect your children or make sure they are safe around guns, it asks, “are your children safe?”. This makes the audience question themselves and question the law asking themselves if gun control should be promoted or not and if children in general are

Strict Gun Control (SGC) is defined as a “collection of legally authorized limitations designed to impose firearm shortage on the general residents” (Lance K). In the USA everyone has right to own anything or right to purchase whatever they want. In the same way people are purchasing the guns for different views. Some of them are purchasing to protect themselves and also they think that they have right to own it. Whereas, the others believe that they earn money by harming or blacking others. The best example is the death of an international student Sai Kiran Goud .On June 15, 2015 this 21 year male, doing his masters at the university in Miami was apparently waylaid by a group of suspected robbers. As he refused to give his iPhone he was killed…

I would say that this ad uses some rhetorical appeals effectively, but lacks some as well. For example, it uses very strong pathos. Having the child looking into an empty fridge that looks very run down and not well kept. There is not a single food item in it. Also, the setting of the picture looks like it is not a well-kept area. The walls are very dirty and water stained, there is trash laying in front a dirty barrel, etc. The little boy in this picture also looks very malnourished. He has no shoes on, and little clothing, just a tank top and some shorts. I believe the author of this article chose this picture on purpose because it is going to emotionally effect mothers, those who love children, those with families, etc. This is ad will force…

For my rhetorical analysis ad, I chose to do a Save the Children foundation ad from Mexico. I wanted to pick an ad that had a lot to say even if it had very few words. This ad I feel has a very powerful message against child abuse. It shows the cycle of child abuse that occurs way too often. The abused child statistically ends up being the abusing adult in the cycle. Save the Children foundation has quite a few of these “break the cycle” ads. They all have the same core concept a child becoming the abusing adult. Every one showing the different ways a child is abused in today’s society and how that turns into a vicious cycle.…

With the rising mass murders across the country, many citizens are wondering if we need more gun control. Pro gun control advocates are saying it is necessary for three reasons of many: high capacity magazines, suicide rates, and active gun laws having loopholes. Anti-gun control advocates are saying it is not necessary because of the decrease in homicide, mental state of murderers, and the right to self defense. Citizens are not just taking sides too, so are presidential candidates. Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton is for pro- gun control, and Donald Trump, a Republican candidate, is for anti-gun control.…

I am here to show you what the majority of people think about gun laws. I believe that the laws should change a little. There are ways that criminals can get guns easily which they shouldn’t. Gun laws keep the order. Better gun laws will be a simpler way to protect ourselves. Changing the laws can prevent criminals from getting them. First, the application to get a gun should be made less simple and harder to get one. Second, laws should prevent criminals from getting guns. Third, it will protect ourselves and people around us and make the world safer.…

The general target market for this ad is teenagers who are attending school. However, as the students walk pass the coke machine, they notice unusually writing on the machine which drew the interest of the students immediately. Further, I like the fact that commercial is using the school and different responses and situations displayed by the students as a way to reach the teenagers. The commercial used a background that would draw the interest of teens and challenged them to try and see what would happen as they walked up to the coke machine. The intent of the ad was to reach a target a particular market of…

As a billboard, it is essentially aimed towards anyone driving or sitting in the passenger seat of a car. This audience is made up of a wide variety of people with varying beliefs, which is why the advertisement must use such powerful and accessible imagery. The unintended audience includes children, who might see the ad and misunderstand the point it is trying to make. Since the audience for this advertisement is so broad, there are multiple ways that it could be interpreted. Most members of its intended audience would understand that the advertisement is against guns, but some might not see that. For example, one might think that the text is arguing that Kinder eggs should be legal in the United States because they are less dangerous than guns. The unintended audience (children) might see a child holding a rifle and understand that guns are dangerous, of they might want to have a gun themselves. These varying interpretations could be just as polarized as the gun debates themselves, and serve to hinder the effectiveness of this…

Analyzing an ad can show the author’s persuasive strategies. Both the Gillette and Blatz beer ads use a baby to target different audiences. While they are two different companies with different products they both use the appeal of a baby to persuade people to buy their product. In this paper I will show several differences between these ads and also some things that relate in them.…

This ad is directed to anyone with children or anyone who interacts with children. The advertisement uses colors to bring a more eerie tone to the picture with using a washed out filter leaving the pictures almost colorless and neutral. The children are not smiling, they maintain a straight look on their faces as they each hold a “dangerous” item and a assault rifle. Not only does the image raise awareness of how weak the gun regulations are but it also draws attention the double standard in America. If the United States government cares so much about children's health and it's willing to ban a book, candy and ball in order to protect them, they why are they letting a man with mental health issues buy a gun that can be used to kill innocent lives? The ad makes the viewer make a choice, and at first glance they are inclined to choose what seems to be the most harmless object. However with a closer look at the full picture, it gives you an explanation as to why a book, ball and chocolate egg is the correct…

Car accidents are preventable. However, nearly 20 to 50 million people were injured because they were involved in one. This is indeed the harsh fact. The ad published by Ekburg, a Russia based company, titled “Think of Both Sides” addresses how automobile drivers should exercise extreme caution whenever they are on the road because they may as well be the victim itself. In the ad itself, an image of a screaming child about to be hit by a car is placed at the center which shows that it need to be paid most attention to. There were also two people who are not paying full attention on driving in both the driver’s seat and the front passenger’s seat. On the rear facing mirror also shows a child on the back passenger seat which was placed perfectly to fit the screaming child on the outside of the car. On the edges of the ad, dark hues were used to further shift focus to the center of the ad itself. I believe that the ad achieve its purpose of instilling a sense of caution to drivers through great usage of imagery and color.…

To begin, the ad has two young boys around the ages of ten standing in a gymnasium. One child is holding a ball and the other has an assault rifle. There is a statement in white font that says, “One child is holding something that’s been banned in America to protect them. Guess which one?” Also, at the bottom of the picture there is fine print that states, “We ban the game dodgeball because it’s viewed as being too violent. Why not assault weapons?” Immediately, the viewer has feelings about the child holding such a powerful and deadly weapon. Weapons are the cause of people feeling a variety of emotions such as fear, safety, and anxiety.…

The idea here is to focus on people’s emotions and impulses rather than information. Companies usually do this by appealing to ideas of prestige, sex, humor, or by using a celebrity to endorse a product. An example of a peripheral route of persuasion can be seen in the Kmart commercial “Ship My Pants.” Clearly, Kmart is alerting customers that they now offer shipping on their online website, but they appeal to the customer’s emotions through this commercial by playing on the idea of humor. This commercial was found controversial and was pulled off air. However, the fact that it was controversial made it memorable. I found this very persuasive because it was so memorable. The advertisements use of humor made it stand out. To make this a more persuasive commercial I would suggest not creating an advertisement that is controversial enough to get taken off the TV, yet still funny enough to be memorable. This advertisement is marketed towards people of low to medium income levels who shop at Kmart. The range of ages in the commercials indicate that Kmart caters to all age groups from children to older adults. Overall, Kmart does well marketing towards its indented audience. While including clever humor, they demonstrate just how much they have to offer in store and online. In the short commercial Kmart advertised that they sell pants, drawers, nightgowns, and even beds. These are all items that…
