HISTORY:
GUJRAT GAS COMPANY IS ONE OF INDIA’S LEADING NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES. IT ESTABLISHED IN 1980 AND HEADQUARTERD IN AHMEDABAD.THE COMPANY OPERATES PRIMARILY IN GUJRAT.THE COMPANY WENT PUBLIC IN 1991. THE BG ACUIRED A MAJORITY STAKE IN THE COMPANY IN 1997.

OPERATIONS:
AS OF 2010 GUJARAT GAS LTD SUPPLIED PIPED GAS TO OVER 3,00,000 HOMES, COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS ACROSS GUJARAT. IT OPERATED OVER 3700 KILOMETERS OF GAS PIPE LINES. IT ALSO OPERATES DOZENS OF CNG FILING STATIONS OF NATURAL GAS VEHICLES. IN OCTOBER 2012, THE MAJORITY OWNER IN THE FIRM,BG GROUP SOLD ITS 65% STAKE FOR FEE OF AROUND $470 MILLION. THE BUYER WAS UNIT OF THE STATE-RUN GUJARAT STATE PETROLEUM CORPORATION.

HE IS RETIRED IAS OFFICER AND HAS BEEN ENGAGED IN PROFESSION OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND INDUSTRIAL POLICY MANAGEMENT.HE HAS SERVED IN SENIOR POSITIONS, BOTH IN GOVERNMENT OF INDIA AND GOVERNMENT OF GUJARAT.
MR. SUGATA SIRCAR - MANAGING DIRECTOR

MR. SUGATA SIRCAR HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF GUJARAT GAS COMPANY LTD WITH EFFECT FROM 1 JULY 2012. HE HAS WORKED AS FINANCE DIRECTOR OF GUJARAT GAS LTD FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS TILL 30 JUNE 2012 AND MANAGED ALL AREA OF FINANCE INCLUDING PLANNING, ACCOUNTING, TAXATION AND TREASURY. HE WAS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COMPANY SECRETARIAL FUNCTION AND WAS A PART OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF GGCL.
