Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo)is an essential base for the United States of America and should stay open for many reasons. Some people believe the base is unethical, not on american soil and costs to much, and for those reasons want it closed. I would argue because what those terrorists did was unethical and they should get a taste of what they did. Gitmo needs to stay in Cuba because I sure don’t want a terrorist escaping and knocking at my door.
An article from boston.com, “Obama orders Guantanamo Bay closed, bans torture,” states, “The military-run prison camp at the US Navy base in Cuba, where about 245 terrorism suspects are being detained, has become a symbol of the Bush administration's policies and a magnet for critics who say (Gitmo) violates human rights.” When the detainees were in Iraq or Afghanistan they had no human rights, they were forced to to what they were told, think what they were told and if they didn’t they would be killed( according to many Taliban research articles). At Guantanamo they are fed, they have a roof over their head and they most likely get more free time then they ever had before. Also from boston.com, Retired Admiral Dennis Blair said that Guantanamo should be closed because it’s, "a damaging symbol to the world." This is a small symbol compared to all the pain these terrorists have done to not only the United States but to the world. I understand that they think it’s a bad symbol but so is all the bombing planes, suicide bombers and the ink jet bomb on cargo jets.
Terrorism has killed so many people that the government deemed to be able to have an accurate number of the dead to be impossible. According to undercoverage.net, Muslim Extremists have killed more than 270 million non-muslims worldwide. But from antiwar.com they estimated 32,900 americans killed, unkowennews.net recorded 919,967 casualties only in Iraq and Afghanistan, and from theindependant.net they recorded 62,006 is the number killed. Some people say that the...
