When you are working with other professionals, you must be able to communicate effectively. This is important because you will need to share ideas, feelings, any information you find that you need to tell someone else. Group communication is a great way to communicate with other professionals, as each person has an opportunity to get their point across and have their own opinion on things. For example, Btec states “Groups work best if there is a team leader who encourages everyone to have a say in turn, rather than everyone trying to speak at once.” Btec (2010, P5)…

Sapienza and colleagues (2002) sought to explore the effects of a high-intensity, low-repetition expiratory muscle strength training method in 40 healthy high school band players. The participants included 18 males and 22 females who were non-smokers and uneducated in expiratory strength training. The authors indicated the average age of participants was 21 years old, which is inconsistent with the age of high school students. The participants were assigned to a control or treatment group with 7 males and 7 females in each control group. There was no description regarding participant assignment procedures, therefore it is unknown if randomization occurred. The treatment group trained 5 days per week for 2 weeks under supervision. The findings…

Also group work doesn’t seem to go well in regular classes because it's more of a social hour rather than an actual study session. Furthermore individual work in regular classes helps get work done much quicker leading to no homework that night. Even so that individual work makes understanding the concept easier with less distractions. It works best in regular classes because majority of the class time is spent reviewing and starting the homework in class. Additionally the act of making decisions is much easier because it's your own opinion. In the end though you're the only one responsible for your work and the one that gets the credit. There's no worry of being taken advantage of.…

Everyone tries to portray that group projects always work out- everyone does their part, helps others when needed, and turns all parts in on time to not affect the grade on the whole project. But is this really the case? I believe that group work is a bad idea in schools. Everything from the bad partners someone could be paired with, having all the weight put on their shoulders because someone did not bring their part, and finding the time to meet up. When it all ends, who is really the victim here? Is it the teacher that has to hear the complaints made, or could it be the stress that is pressed onto the students, who- in the usual school setting- have a lot already occupying the time needed for other school work (end?).…

Once a teacher has decided to employ group work, he or she is faced with a number of practical questions concerning cooperative groupings. These questions include the issue of group composition, appropriate tasks and roles, and the methods of formation. One especially problematic question many teachers face is "Should students be allowed to choose their own group mates?" Students can place a great deal of pressure on teachers to form their own groups. This pressure stems from the notion common in childhood…
