Group Project Reflection
Group Project Reflection Paper This past week in COMS 101, we formed groups and created a project in regards to the importance of communication. My group consisted of five group members: Hope Dryer, Jamison Roney, Kristin Rudell, Shaina Cadet, and myself. Together we experienced the different aspects and importance of small groups. In order to begin our project, our group had to experience the decision-making phases. We started with the first phase, Orientation. During this phase, our group positioned itself into the “group work setting.” Our group already knew one another, so we did not experience the primary tension aspect, or the fear of completing our task. We all realized we could successfully complete a group project, and had to put forth an effort to complete it. The second phase, Conflict, occurred once we began the project and began to contribute ideas. We became more involved by talking, presenting ideas, and listening to one another. Equal participation occurred because each group member fairly contributed to our project. Our group never experienced actual conflict. We all were respectful to one another and worked as a group. The third phase we experienced was Emergence. During this phase we all cooperated and …show more content…
For example, Kristin acted as our Initiator-Contributor. She helped provide brainstorming ideas in regards to our topics. Our Energizer was Jamison. He always had a positive attitude and motivated our group. Hope was our Procedural-Technician. She created our Powerpoint and made sure each member had submitted their part of the project. The Orienter was myself. I made sure the group was aware of deadlines, and was staying on track. Last, but not least, was Shaina. She was absent the first few days, however, she still contributed to the group by acting as the group’s Information Seeker. She seeked information that was needed and presented her results to the

This project taught me how to perform research and collect needed information by analyzing available literature and interviewing involve parties. It provided me with valuable knowledge about patient experience in the hospital and ways to improve it. His project also showed me the importance of team work. Because in order to provide quality care and improve patient safety all health care providers need to work as a team. I will use knowledge that I gained from this experience in my everyday practice. It will help met to analyze my nursing practice and care we provide and look for the solution to improve it. Nurses, as patient advocate, should always insure that patients receive best care possible and that in the end we see positive affect of…

Last week I learned how different aspects of the business relate to each other. I have learned how to review various financial statements of the company and how to compare them to other companies and what to look for. In addition, I have learned that business operations greatly depending on how human resource management operates. Also, I found it interesting that success of the business relies solely on the ability to adapt to current market conditions. In other words, week five helped me understand how to put various business applications together and how to use them in my current and future career. The use of profit and Loss statements or P & L I found very interesting and important in order to conduct a business analysis. Additionally, I learned how tactics and strategies are different. Strategies are business tools that help managers achieve organizational objectives in the future, while tactics are the actions that are used to implement those strategies. Also, I learned that the strategic leadership of ethical behavior is very crucial in the business because moral impact of leadership presence and behaviors will not be neutral.…

The first stage of group development is team formation. Formation starts the project it is where partners are able to meet get to know each other and put together their ideas for the project at hand. This step is said to prevent the most work from getting done since members of the group are still forming their opinions of one another, trying to get a sense of who they are. In this stage group members usually do not create much controversy; this could be due to the desire to be accepted by members of the group. In this stage the project is outlined and people set their roles within the group while a leader is also defined within the group. For our site specific project I felt that the whole team in total did a great job. There were minor mistakes we made but we did well overall. There were some challenges when we were trying to come up with a dance with the environment. The most challenging part of the project was dancing outside to where everyone could see what we were doing. There were several distractions when we would try to come up with the dance. There was somebody that got mad at us because he couldn’t put up this thing to where he could lay down in between the trees. We had to explain to him that we were doing a project here then he just flicked us off. It was also a distraction because a lot of people I knew walked by and would do things to try to distract me from doing the dance. So the most challenging thing was being distracted since we were outside with people walking by.…

Developing the correct method for collecting consumer data is much needed in today’s business world. People are not spending as much as they used to and compare service and functionality before making a big purchase. They key to making the best survey is to make it easy and quick for the participant. The participant must also be assured that their opinion does matter and their time is not being wasted. The right population samples must be taken for trying a new business in a different market. An Asian restaurant might not survive if not many people in the area partake of that style of food.…

Small group and team communication is basically the most imperative skill that any individual will ever have to learn. Communication consists of making contact with other individuals in verbal or nonverbal connection. Whether it is a group or team each individual has different background and customs, therefore he or she should be confident enough to deal with social diversity because there is no particular way in dealing with such diverse groups. The importance of team communication is vital for achievement because people learn from one another and share similar objectives. While classroom lectures provide students with volumes of information, many experiences can be understood only by living them. It is with the

For our smaller small group challenge we were given a team building activity to help us develop our group cohesion, communication and leadership qualities. Our task was that we had to create an innovative product that students want or need, using at least five items amongst a variety of miscellaneous items given by the group that created the task. Once we created our product we had to come up with a name and a description of it. Once that was done we had to figure out a marketing scheme, either an advertisement, a sales pitch, or a speech for example. We then had to use that idea to promote and sell our product to a stranger on campus. The final product we created and promoted was study buddy for students named Tux. Our study buddy was made out of a box where students could keep their study supplies such as pencils and sharpeners. We also made a slot in the back where we wrote motivational quotes on cue cards, that way while students are stressed and studying, they can pick out cards to give them motivation. Lastly the party aspect of Tux was that we attached two cups to the side of him that students could use for their alcohol. We used a sales pitch to sell him to a couple of strangers we approached in Hagey Hall.…
