Through the course, I learned about leadership different styles and how they emerged and developed from the Trait Theories that focus on the leader characteristics to the Goal Orientations Theories that require collaborative methods between leaders and followers. As I mentioned before, I had always linked the leadership weight to the leader leading characteristics. However, I would argue now that leadership is gained through practice and experience and it is powered through followers. As a school leader, I will use a mixture of leadership theories. First, I will build my school on an ethical basement and then, I will structure a vision that is shared between everyone in the school. At this point of my study, I believe that the type of leadership…
Our learning group has been overall successful in conducting productive meetings and completing tasks in a timely manner and at the desired quality level. However, there are aspects that can be improved in order to make meetings run more smoothly.…
The focus of discussion for Team ‘D’ was centered on the objectives outlined in our syllabus. The objectives for week one included evaluating individual characteristics of employees, analyzing the impact of individual employee characteristics on organizational performance, and determining management methods based on individual employee characteristics. The objectives for week two were to determine strategies to motivate employees, and also to create effective organizational communication. Employee motivation is an important factor in the success of an organization. If employees are not motivated then the risk of productivity not reflecting positive numbers and positivity in the work environment is greater.…
With your team members, develop a training plan to increase the effectiveness of groups and teams through a discussion of the challenges and benefits of group and team communication, collaboration, and conflict management. This is not to be submitted. After developing the plan, individually, in a 1,050 word, APA formatted and referenced paper consider ways to apply the training program your team developed to the organization you researched in Week One. Describe how the program would work in that organization and how it would help or could have helped the organization succeed inste...…
When I volunteered for VBS at New Life Church I was able to create a family and deep relationships with the people I worked with. Because of the side program that I was involved in, called Lead School, it enabled me to learn how to be a more confident leader. This program also allowed me to interact with kids and impact their lives through Jesus…
My recollection and learning from a significant pedagogical leadership experience has occurred this year at my current work place and is an ongoing experience. Currently I teach at Roxby Downs Area School (RDAS) in the far north of South Australia. Roxby Downs Area School is located in the heart of the Roxby Downs Township and caters for Years R-12. It shares facilities with the local TAFE including the Desert Trade Training Centre (DESTTC). Over the last 8 years I have taught at the Area School across R-12 and currently teach secondary Art and I am the Middle School coordinator.…
In this essay I am going to reflect on my experience working as part of a team and the preparation on an oral presentation I had to do in class with people from different courses, as part of the Foundations for Practice in Health and Social Care module. Reflection is educational and is used as a means of self-knowledge and to develop using a process of feeling and learning by thinking about what happened and what could have been done differently. (Rolfe, 2011, p.8-12) I will be using the Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle to do this. In this model there are 6 different stages to look at to help structure reflection, the description of the event, your feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and an action plan. There is more than one model and ways to look at reflection, learning about practice and learning about our self. One definition is “Reflection is not primarily a technology to produce better patient outcomes. Reflection is essentially about personal growth” (Johns, 2004, p.44)…
I agree with group leaders being present, attentive and optimistic to aid in moving the group process to the working stage. Mediocre group leadership skills will not suffice during this or any stage. As members display behaviors, such as anxiety and reluctance, leaders must display efficiency and strength in skill and technique. Naturally, it’s not difficult nor illogical to apply a negative outcome on the ineffective counselor. Yet, it becomes more complex when applying this argument to the effective, attentive, present, phenomenological group leader.…
HNN215 gave me a great deal of knowledge and insight about leadership and clinical governance. When the subject and course was first introduced to me in class and on the cloud, I was already familiar with some of the topics that were presented such as the nurse being a change agent, patient participation, nursing leaders and leadership and effective communication as well as risk management. This made me feel confident and in high spirits since I had already learned some of it back home while I was studying nursing in the Philippines. Though I knew the basic concepts about some of these topics I didn’t realize how in depth and vast they really were.…
The group activity that I decided to use as the subject matter of my reflection paper is my youth group back at my church at home in Maryland. The name of the group is called The Counsel and basically what we are trying to accomplish is transitioning from being seen as the young people in the church to the adults who will soon not just be watching the church move but will soon be controlling the church ourselves. We do a lot of community work and outreach efforts that are help aid those in need around us. We also participate in mentorship and partner with other churches in the area. We have about 15 members in the group and the ages range from 12-21. Through my observation of one of our latest meetings I was able to take very valuable notes away from the interactions we had between each other and where I saw leadership, structure, norms, and other group dynamics concepts present in that meeting.…
Alan Litchman and Laura B. Trust, Co-Presidents of Finagle a Bagel, own a bagel business in Boston (Parrino, Kidwell, Bates, 2012). Alan and Laura met in business school and after gaining business experience in other industries they purchased the bagel business with the intent of growing it as much as possible. They have two primary target markets: 1) retail stores and 2) wholesale accounts with large institutions. In this paper, we will briefly discuss a few of the strategies they used to manage their working capital.…
This project taught me how to perform research and collect needed information by analyzing available literature and interviewing involve parties. It provided me with valuable knowledge about patient experience in the hospital and ways to improve it. His project also showed me the importance of team work. Because in order to provide quality care and improve patient safety all health care providers need to work as a team. I will use knowledge that I gained from this experience in my everyday practice. It will help met to analyze my nursing practice and care we provide and look for the solution to improve it. Nurses, as patient advocate, should always insure that patients receive best care possible and that in the end we see positive affect of…
Both of these goals can be achieved if the entire organization is geared toward these goals. With this term, total quality management was founded. In 1980, TQM became a major concern because the Japanese showed superiority in manufacturing automobiles. The United States quality was so bad that it became national priority to improve the manufacturing in the United States.…
(1) Bowers and Seashore (1966) suggested that group effectiveness was, in part, dependent upon the presence of a set of behaviors that we commonly associate with leadership. They went on to note, however, that it was not necessary that the leader per se directed these behaviors to the group. Discuss what Bowers and Seashore meant by this, and comment upon why a leader is important, assuming that they are not supplying the group with these key behaviors.…
Business Research 351 enlightened the team of the importance of research in business. Gathering information and questioning help us make better decisions for our organizations. Many of the team members have already implemented many of the research methods in their current employment.…
