Greek Design
Clay was a very important part of ancient Greek culture. Back then they did not have glass or plastic to make containers out of. Luckily clay was easy to find in Greece. Most Greek pottery was shaped for a particular function or a number of functions. They were used around the house, or for ceremonies, or even entertainment. The reason I came up with this design was from the internet. I looked up Greek pottery and there was plenty so it was hard to choose but I really liked the pots called Lekythos. Lekythos is used usually to describe a pot that has a tall and squat shape, a base, a single vertical handle, a narrow neck, and a small mouth. I made a really similar pot to the lekythos. As you can see I have no particular design on my pot but I have a picture, and that picture is of Zeus. Zeus took a good part in ancient Greek times. He was the king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky and thunder. His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull, and oak. There are many other specific pots of Zeus but I chose a simple one because the simpler the better.
Modern Design
Pottery is one of the most useful arts and crafts. Pottery can be practical meaning it can be used for everyday use or just to be attractive. Pottery can make good bowls, mugs, plates, and especially POTS. If you let your imagination direct you, you can make everything. The reason I came up with my modern flower pot was because of my mum and our good family friend who owns a statue/antiques shop which has everything. My mum really likes collecting flower pots like modern and not so modern she likes flower pots because she thinks there attractive and comforting. Once when I visited our family friend I wondered around his shop for a little while and there was plenty of antiques like small ones and huge one and what made them special was that each one had a different design/illustration. I kept asking questions like what are these used for, how are they made and
