Greed In Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales

Greed could kill the world
What does greed mean? Greed could mean different things to different people. The millionaires believe they worked hard for what they got. However to the people that are not greed means intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. People in 3rd world countries are dying because dictator wanting more land and food. They go through so much that most people could not deal with the pain and suffering that 3rd world countries go through; however, people in the Middle Ages had a hard time as while. In “The Canterbury Tales”, Chaucer uses The Pardoner’s Tale and The Miller’s Tale descriptions of greed, and death to persuasively illustrate that during medieval times people fought and even killed
During the story the three brothers found the gold. The two older brothers sent the younger one to get the wine and food however, the two started to talk about killing shown in the story “You know that you can trust me as a brother; Now let me tell you where your profit lies; You know our friend has gone to get supplies and here’s a lot of gold that is to be Divided equally amongst us three. Nevertheless, if I could shape things thus so that we shared it out the two of us wouldn’t you take it as a friendly act?” This supports the idea that greed kills people. The two brothers are about to kill one of their own brother just for the gold. They hunted for death and took a pelage for each other but they want more gold then what they have now. However during this time the other brother was also planning on killing the other brothers. “Lord, to think I might have all that treasure to myself alone! Could there be anyone beneath the throne of god so happy as I then should be?” The youngest brother is now wondering if he should kill the others just for all the gold and not even split it. People in today’s era works hard however the people that come from rich families or work their way up to power are different stories. In the Ted video he talks about how people with more money acts and talks different and feel more in powered, He took multiply of test to prove his idea . In the start of the testing the people were having fun but once the player with more money realize that they have the whole bored feels more in power and this shows that the player with more money didn’t care how he got so much money, he went with it and started to make the other player feel bad for himself and did not help them. The testing show people want more then what they have not all people are like this but the people that think that they are higher they life and feel more in power than any one.
