Good evening Mr Krug, Teachers, Parents and esteemed guests. Tonight we have gathered in this lavishly decorated hall to celebrate the graduation of __ fine students as we begin to write another chapter in our lives. Although our graduation tends to recognise our success of our twelve dedicated years of study, it also provides the opportunity to reflect on the years that have gone by. In saying this, it is my honour as 2008 School Captain to present a very special toast this evening, to those people who we often take for granted; our parents. Where do I begin? You brought us into this world, and as my mother persistently likes to remind me, you can also take us out of it. Firstly, this beautiful hall tonight is representative of the effort you put into our lives. For a large number of the parents present this evening, you are responsible for the transformation of the hall. Of course, this arduous task could have not been completed without the frequent afternoon Grad meetings held at the Higgs’s house, as well as working hard today to set up. Not only is grateful for your efforts, but we as your children are as well. However, your industry is not just restricted to our Graduation Dinner, but also to working bees, Debutante Balls and sporting carnivals. You are continuously volunteering your time, money and talents to provide a better school and life for us and often don’t receive anything in return for your efforts. Welcome to the most important and life changing day of our lives. As I prepared for this speech I couldn't help but think of how I got to where I am today. The first thing that popped into my head was how much my parents put a lot of thought, and care, and lest we forget, money into my education. They always stressed that school came first.
