GP ESSAY FAILURE
The word ‘failure’ should never be used in education. Discuss.

Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. Education is the process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgement, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for matured life. Hence, education is made compulsory for everyone as it is fundamental human right and it helps to improve skills and knowledge of them so that they could gain employment, thereby aiding the country’s development. Whereas, the word failure refers the lack of success, inability to achieve goal and incompetence. As the word failure and the purpose of education is contradicting each other, the word failure should not be used in education at most instances.

Since the purpose of education is to inculcate ideas into students, the word failure should not be use at most instances. This is because the word failure would decrease self-esteem of the students. Low self-esteem can lessen a student's desire to learn, ability to focus and the willingness to take risks. Low self-esteem will not only impact the student in terms of education, it will also affect the daily lives of them. For example, they will have little faith in their own judgement and be highly vulnerable to peer pressure. This would then affect them in acquiring knowledge and skills that enables them to gain employment in the future. Thus, the word failure should not be used in education at most instances.

Education helps to prepare individuals into becoming part of the future workforce, therefore the word failure should not be used in education at most instances. This is because the word failure might cause the students to lose interest towards the subject. In addition, it would also lower their self-confidence and ability to communicate with others. Low self-confidence would severely limit the career development of a person as they are less willing to

In the essay, “In Praise of The “F” Word”, by Mary Sherry, she provides a very good argument on the subject of the failure of kids in school. Her argument is supported by her thesis which, which is that kids shouldn’t just be passed through school without learning anything and they should be encouraged to try harder and try to achieve success by threatening them with the word “failure.” Argument elements are very evident in her writing. She identifies the controversy, supports her thesis by examples, uses supported evidence, and even uses only one point of view in the argument.…

Education should be used with a purpose and that purpose is to learn, to educate, and to help students become successfully academically. However, that is not always the case. Education at times is used for all the wrong reasons. “Repeatedly, Americans have followed a common pattern in devising educational prescriptions for specific social or economic ills. Once they had discovered a problem, they labeled it and taught a course on the subject: alcohol or drug instruction to fight addictions; sex education to combat syphilis or AIDS; home economics to lower the divorce rate; driver education to eliminate carnage on the highway; and vocational training or…

According to Roger Von Oech, the author of “ToErr IsWrong”,shows us at least two reasons about failure. The most common aftermath that a human being must face in life is their failure. There are two types of failures, errors and mistakes. The most important thing is how we learn and are able to benefit from our previous failures. I agree with Von Oech that having mistakes, errors and failures are necessary. If people who can handle failures in a positive way. This will lead people successful in their future life. On the other hand, if who handle, errors, mistake and failures in a negative way. This will be painful and not attended with future success.…

What is failure? Is it being told by some else that you aren’t good enough for a part? Is it studying so hard and long for a test and not getting the grade you hoped you would receive? Is it putting you all in to a college application and not getting into your first pick? According to “Webster Dictionary” failure is a lack of success. Something that most of us can relate to in one moment of your lives for one reason or another.…

In my case, I see it as giving everything your all at what you do. In my household family I am considered to be bright and known to always receive excellent grades, but in school everything changes. I am not as intelligent as everyone else, but what I do have is that I do not give up. My peers seem to get devastated from failing grades and not having the highest average as they hoped for. I, myself see failure as a motivation to never give up. Even when I feel like I have given my all into a goal I continue to move forward to get even further. I like to reach for the sky even if it seems…

Although it may sound scary to some, it is very important to fail. The best failures are the private ones that occur in the privacy of your creative little space. The choice of whether a student wants to learn is totally up to him or her. Some students do try to succeed in school and receive the education, while others just don't care about their future and their level of education. In every class, there are always the select few of students who are superior and do very well who achieve high grades. These students are usually the ones that participate in class, do their homework, and most importantly, those who try and give an effort. Oppositely, there are some who are at the end of the line who do very poorly, and do not try to succeed at all. They have just given up without even giving a pinch of effort. These students then usually complain that the teacher is being unfair and puts the blame on the teacher, when they have done nothing productive. But on the other hand, there are some factors that can affect this. There are students who do try in school, and yet still seem to be struggling. Some just have problems learning. They don't earn the highest marks in the class, but they are still giving an effort, which is important. There are some scenarios where some students who are just naturally intelligent. They can do…

In the event, of a student failing a class such as math, English, or a science class a student who fail in this area could be an indication of a different learning progression, rather than a lack of knowledge in those subjects. I brought the idea of different learning progression because every student is different and they learn at a different phase than other students. For this purpose, student should not feel pressured trying to meet someone else’s standard for success because it will lower their self-esteem being placed in the lower rank in the grading system. Nevertheless, students should go at their own pace and meet their own standards for success that they have pre-set for themselves. For example, I was rather slow in my progression in learning how to write a paper because I have never written an essay when I was attending high school in the Philippines, and it was very challenging because I have to learn all these rules of how to write an effective essay. In comparison, to my sister’s learning progression in her writing she had progress at a faster rate in relation to my progress in writing. Though, I was a bit jealous in her success in writing and I for one was taking an introductory English class because I failed the writing portion of the entrance exam at El Camino College. But, I have come to realize people are different…

Failure is something that we cannot go through life without experiencing. The best thing about failure is that failure can be used as a great learning experience to improve upon things in our lives and career. Using failure as a learning tool is dependent upon the person and how they view it as well as how they use it. Failure is a matter of perspective and the lessons in failure are important aspects towards growth and development. If we did not experience failure there wouldn’t be opportunities for learning. Failure can teach us about ourselves as well as provide an understanding for our strengths and weaknesses and even provide motivation (Mindtools.com, 2012).…
