I would have to say my writing is average and its nothing really special about it. There is some things I want to work on to make my papers as good as they could be. My strength as a writer is that I stay on topic and I hit all the points I suppose to hit. One of my challenge is that I don’t go into detail about my topic. I usually get straight to the point and I will have to go back and add details to meet the word requirements.…

Personally, I’ve always felt I was a decent writer in all aspects regarding research and personal narratives. Considering those are subjects that interest me and that I love to read about. I struggle the most when it comes to making my writing hold a deeper or hidden message when the topics I am told to write about don’t interest me. Having to do rhetorical analysis with old literature and having to explain the main idea was my number one struggle in AP language and composition senior year. But other than that I felt, throughout high school, I enjoyed writing and taking a majority of the writing classes my school had to offer, not only because it was required but because it was something that teachers and myself felt I did acceptable work.…
Writing is the primary way people communicate with others and is taught at an early age (typically 5 years old). We all write daily; whether it be emails or paperwork for a job, assignments and papers for school, even something as simple as texting a relative/friend. Having the ability not only to write but, write correctly is beneficial in several areas of life. Earning better grades and improved critical thinking skills are just two benefits that come from improving my ability to write.…
I think that a feature for "good writing" is style. Different writers have different styles which attracts certain readers. If a writer has a unique and interesting style a reader will be attracted to a piece of writing even if the topic is not…
The key topic I have learned that plays a huge role in the writing process is confidence. When writers are confident about their piece and they really love the way it has turned out, then it shows through the entire paper. I always tell my dance students that if they show the audience how much they love dancing, then more people will want to watch them. And I think the same goes for…
In his essay, “The Importance of Writing Badly,” Bruce Ballenger encourages students to write freely and to not worry about finding the “perfect way of saying it.” I feel by saying this he means to not worry about what you’re writing and it may not necessarily be perfect, but that you write what you are thinking and continue writing even if it’s bad or may not make sense. He means to put all your thoughts down on paper and start from there. Ballenger gives his students permission to write badly. He expresses that “when the writing stops, so does the thinking.” He also states that he is far more interested in encouraging thinking than error-free sentences and concise, clear writing.…
When it comes to writing I have noticed that some of my strengths are, that most of my papers are extremely detailed, I use proper grammar and punctuation as needed, I never go off topic in what subject I am writing about, I am very creative, proofread everything that I write down and my all of my paragraphs are organized with all information. When I am writing I like to make every sentence flow together so that the reader does not get lost or confused in any way when he/she is reading my work. I always make sure that there is enough information placed into each paragraph before starting a new. I do go into a lot of detail when it comes to writing especially if it is a research paper.…
Over the course of the years I have been in school, my writing has developed greatly. My writing has evolved throughout the years but this semester is when my writing became the best I have seen it. Due to my experience and my evolution of writing, my definition of good, effective writing may differ from other people’s perspectives. Defining something as “good” can be quite vague in the sense that good means many different things such as desirable, righteousness, and well. In my first and second “Theory of Writing” paper, I stated that the aspects that make writing good and effective are: having ideas that flow together nicely, not drifting off topic and to not be redundant with your word choice and sentences. I still at this point in the semester…
Writing is an art but difficult process for me. Nobody born as a writer but he gains the experience to be able to express his thoughts to others. My experience in writing was very minimal. English is not my native language and was not emphasized in my high school . English writing was basically attested of memory for students. They give us different topics and they give us sample writing. We memorize them and one of the topics would come in the test. We write just because we memorized them.…
