Good Entertainment
What is good entertainment? I think that the main difference between a good film or song and a bad one is the ability for the audience to relate to the content. When the audience can relate to a piece of art from personal experience is when the piece of art can truly be called “artistic”. People don’t want to just listen to a song or see a movie and think that it was cool and fun to watch, but to take something from the art’s material and be able to comprehend the message that is being presented. I think that art is best when it fulfills both categories. I like films and songs that have a good message, applicable to my life, and are also entertaining. I have been watching the show “Breaking Bad” since the first season came out and I have learned a lot more about life in general than I knew before. You watch the protagonist, Walter White, go from an innocent chemistry teacher to a homicidal methamphetamine cook. The show presents many life lessons in very unique ways. I truly love this show because by watching it, I learn a little bit more about myself and different ways to see the world. It is shows like this that can actually be defined as “artistic”; they present a good entertaining story but also incorporate personal experiences that can apply to a broad audience. I have watched movies before that I’ve enjoyed due to the entertainment it presented rather than what I got out of it. Shows like this are not “artistic”, but entertaining. There is a big difference between a film being fun to watch and a film that presents useful material to apply to the outside world.

Imagine sitting in a dark theater. There are excited voices chattering all around. All of the sudden, music starts playing and the chattering elevates into screams and shouts. Music is art, and The Beatles were awarding winning artists that had a major influence on pop culture.…

All throughout history art has been around to appeal to those who were willing to take the time to understand it. While a large majority can appreciate art in itself, it is clear that not everyone has the patience or sometimes are just not even willing to attempt, to appreciate it. In the last century or so film has brought art to the attention of a larger audience through a way that, to many, comes across as more appealing.…

Although I do not particularly care for chance music, or even agree with the idea or methods, I still hold true to the belief that any art for developed by an artist should be considered for the art for that it represents. Personally I do no care for the work of Picasso; however, he is one of the most renowned artists in history. There are many that have said that Rap music, or modern impressionist art is should not be considered for what it is and yet there are just as many people that would disagree and argue that they are an art form all their own. I feel that music only extrapolates sounds of life and brings them to melodic presence. If one would try to use only the sounds of life, I believe it would simply sound like life itself. For me, music is about an emotional escape from the realistic sounds of life and, in order to do that, the sounds that are strung together in rhythmic melodies have to be different than those that are heard as you walk down a busy street. As I sit and write this, I am reminded about the movie I wrote a review on early in our class, August Rush. In the movie, August heard music in everything, and was able to derive melodies from the sounds around him. I saw a group called “Stomp” on stage performing with broom handles and trash cans, and the rhythm and music that they are able to produce is phenomenal. If you have never heard them, go to You-tube and look up stomp-out-loud, you will not be disappointed.…

    A Moral moral never land

In his article Harold gives a considerable space to explain the point of view of Plato and Tolstoy in this case. For Plato and Tolstoy art is morally corrupting. They both defend the idea that art corrupts its audience by playing on emotion. As Harold mentions deeply that for them emotional effect of art is undeniable and it’s enough to influence how people act and what kind of people they become. For example for him if someone watches something violent it automatically affects him. Harold respond their argument with saying that this kind of a thought is more valid for their time and nowadays people have the enough knowledge to make the difference between the good and bad. That’s why for my opinion art is the best path that goes from self- development. Overall I totally disagree with the perspective of this two and think these shows are just portrays that is served for audience to interpret.…

Art direction is a big part of what helps a movie achieve its identity. A movie that is forgettable in every way is obviously not likely to be one of a person's favorites. However, a great script, great production values and art direction can all keep them in your mind and help to make a movie a person wants to watch over and over again. Movies have a certain "look" and "feel" to them, which makes them visually interesting and therefore interesting in general to the viewer. That's not to say a movie with brilliant art direction can make up for a bad script, bad acting and horrid direction. It can't. But it can make for an extremely beautiful-looking bad movie.…

It is hard to determine where the line between acceptable and unacceptable is when referring to the arts. I personally think it is difficult to say because if certain things are not censored some people may not want their children seeing it. I believe that it should be the individual who decides what is crossing the line. I say this because what some people may think is crossing the line to an extreme, others may say it just has a powerful meaning or just enjoy it. It is each individual's decision to decide their preference.…

The use of music also complements other artistic media, such as film. The absence of a soundtrack would considerably diminish the emotional impact of images on TV and movies. Imagine a scary movie without the suspenseful music, an outnumbered band of soldiers charging the enemy without the heroic background theme, or a love scene without musical accompaniment. Not only are soundtracks necessary for artistic purposes, their immense commercial value must not be overlooked. Soundtrack recordings of hit movies are often produced and marketed in the hope of selling millions of copies worldwide. Through repeated listening and savvy marketing, the themes and title songs sometimes come to symbolize an era of society or…

    Values in Art

Making a judgement on whether art has value is entirely subjective and can only be determined on whether someone holds value to that piece, or acknowledging that someone holds certain values to that piece. Art is valuable in itself, and independent of what people enjoy, want, or what is good for them. This is important as there are a number of values that an art work can hold and that these values can appeal to a wide number of people or even just to the artist. Often artwork is intended to appeal to human emotion and by doing this an artist can attached different values to a piece. (For the purpose of this assignment I will be examining some of the values stated below) these feelings can include:…

Different people have different views and perspectives, I think that art can reflect feelings of artist, and to express the emotion of the artist, it also can be a mirror of the times, reflecting the situation of the age, or it might only be a kind art form, just presenting the technique of the artist. It is no doubt that famous artist artwork usually got more appreciation, but I believe that the value of art is the motive and sprits behind the artwork but not who drew it or how much it sold for, artist create artwork with their own belief, if the belief arouse the resonance of the audience, the value of the artwork would be raised.…
