Goldilocks Vs Little Red
When Goldilocks goes into the forest, she is disobeying her mother’s wishes. She was told to never go into the forest. Goldilocks got lost, Little Red riding hood knew where she was going. I have concluded that Goldilocks might have younger than Little Red because she seemed more naive and trusting. When she found a house in the middle of the woods, she saw no threat of the house,so she went right in. I feel that going inside of the house was one of Goldilocks worst resolutions, the house could have been abandoned because it was falling to pieces, the house could have fallen down around her and killed her the second she walked through the door. She eats the owner of the house’s food, which could be poison, breaks one of their chairs, an

The Grimm Brothers describe Little Red Cap forcing the wolf “down the roof” with the smell of sausage, and consequentially drowning in the trough (Tatar 16). “Little Dread Riding Hood” portrays that heroic scene by designing a presumably older little red riding hood riding a wolf as though it was a horse. This domestication, or possibly dead body, of the wolf into a play toy demonstrations how little red riding hood matures, and is able to defend herself against the wolf rather than relying on someone else, the huntsman, to save…

The legendary story of Billy the Kid has been told for over one hundred years. Movies have been made since then, portraying a similar story of Billy the Kid. The popular movie, Young Guns, was made in 1988 and was based around the teenage life of Billy and his posse known as “The Regulators”. However, the movie had many major historical inaccuracies. One example of a historical inaccuracy was the age of Billy’s employer John Tunstall. The movie portrays him as an old fatherly figure to the regulators, however Tunstall was only a few years older than Billy and died when he was twenty-four. The movie also represents the regulators incorrectly. There were more than six regulators and they were not all young fit men, most of them were in their thirties and forties. They also did not call themselves the regulators until after Tunstall’s death. Another example of a historical inaccuracy in the movie Young Guns was the scene where Murphy’s henchmen shoot Tunstall in front of all of the regulators. Tunstall, by himself, was riding horseback and was shot while herding horses back to the ranch. An additional historical inaccuracy was the scene where the regulators are stuck in McSween’s house surrounded by soldiers. In the movie, only five regulators are stuck in the house with Mr. McSween and his wife. In reality, there were about 15 regulators and the battle lasted about five days, not two. At the battle, Billy the kid is shown as killing Murphy for the final scene. No matter how cool the ending was, it was completely inaccurate because Murphy was not shot by the Kid, but died of cancer in Santa Fe. Young Guns is a great movie but the historical inaccuracies in it are very…

Lastly, the conclusion i can draw about society based on this book is that African Americans were not being represented publicly given that this is a retelling of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears. At the time when the original tale was published (1837) there was much more racism than there is currently. Notably, slavery was still alive during that time, taking this in consideration there was no way you would ever see an African American in a school where whites attended nonetheless be seen in a book. I believe this book not only represents African Americans but also shows how they are not so different as they were being treated in 1837. As a child reads Leola and the Honeybears it exposes them to diversity, to multiple perspectives and values.…

With no near site of rescue, an absence of maturity, and a craving for blood, a civilization will decline at a rapid pace. In the Lord of the Flies it does not take much for the boys’ civilization to crash and burn. This can be concerning, as it shows how rapidly a human can become wild when in a survival mentality. Humans crave power to the extent that it can make people do anything to get it. Jack and Ralph each were turned to power hungry tyrants at the slightest taste of it of its infamous glory .…

The purpose of “For Environmental Balance, Pick Up a Rifle” by Nicholas D. Kristof is to inform the reader that deer are causing death and destruction all across America and to persuade the reader to believe the only way to end this is to hunt deer. Kristof begins the essay by grabbing our attention proving deer are over populated, destroying the ecosystem, and killing Americans in car crashes every year. He then leads us to his thesis “Let’s bring back hunting.” Kristof notes that these days many people view hunting as cruel and brutal and are opting for other methods for deer control now due to their sympathy for deer. He believes methods such as birth control are a waste of time and money and if something does not change soon it is only going to get worse. Kristof also proves in his essay that there has been a significant decline of hunting stating, “For every hundred hunters who die or stop hunting, only sixty-nine hunters take their place” (pg.183). He wants us to know while you can be sympathetic to the deer we have an environmental imbalance, a serious problem and the only way to solve it is to put feelings aside and hunt. Kristof then offers us another way to look at hunting. That it is environmentally friendly. He even goes on to say, “It connects people with the outdoors and creates a broader constituency for wilderness prevention” and makes sure to note “At a time when America is goggled away with logging, mining, or oil drilling” (pg. 183), which touches the hearts of environmentalists. Kristof gives us two options in this essay:…

Even when they grow up and become a woman, they're still waiting for that prince to come sweep them off their feet, so they can fall crazy in love and live happily ever after. Hi, it is me Ponyboy. I have been meaning to talk to you about something. I never thought you as a father even though you always try to be like a father to me. You were always very rough to me and even though you sometimes said sorry for any act you did like shaking me vigorously, I never thought you really meant it. As for example, once I thought, “Darry isn’t very sorry for anything he does. It seems funny to me that he should look just like my father and act exactly the opposite from him. My father was only 40 when he died and he looked 25 and a lot of people thought Darry and Dad were brothers, instead of father and son. But they only looked alike- my father was never rough to anyone without meaning to be.” (Hinton, 6) The problem between us was that I thought you were way too harsh for you to actually be nice and caring at that time.…

In the beginning of Little Red Riding Hood, the little country girl is merrily along her way through the forest. “…She met with a wolf, who had a very great mind to eat her up…” (Clugston, 2010, p. 73). This is where a major problem rises; the little country girl’s mother and grandmother never taught her to make herself aware of strangers. “The poor child, who did not know that it was dangerous to stay and talk to a wolf…” (Clugston, 2010, p. 73). We are already made aware that the girl is young and impressionable by her talking to this stranger. She is unaware of the consequences that could arise from her informing the wolf of her day.…

Many short stories have been written throughout time. Many are just for entertainment, but many of them are for teaching a lesson. Little Red Riding Hood was written partly to teach a lesson. In France, a girl that loses her virginity is said to have “seen a wolf.” That is what this story is based on. Little Red Riding Hood is about a little girl that runs in to a wolf in the forest as she is on her way to her grandmother’s house. Her grandmother was ill and her mother baked some food to make her feel better, in which Little Red Riding Hood was taking to her grandmother. When she met the wolf, the wolf was thinking he did not want to attack the girl because there were workers in the area and he did not want there to be any witnesses. Therefore, the wolf gained the trust of the little girl in just a short time so he can learn where the grandmother lived. The little girl, being naïve, gave the location of her grandmother’s house to the wolf. The end result was the death of the grandmother and the little girl because the wolf ate both of them.…

    Cinderella Vs Ashputtle

“Cinderella, or The Little Glass Slipper” by Charles Perrault and “Ashputtle” by the Grimm Brothers have similar plots which include a young girl put to work, a pair of elegant slippers, the evil step sisters, the evil step mother, and a godmother figure. These two versions arise from the German and French cultures. The French version done by Perrault is happier and written for a younger age, whereas the German version by the Grimm Brothers has gore and is written for all ages. Although these two versions are similar, the German version, “Ashputtle” is superior to the French version, “Cinderella, or The Little Glass Slipper” for that it is more realistic because it shows the elements of karma, gore, and it does not contain a lot of magic.…

Mallet states that little red riding hood shares similar trait with her grandma and mother that they are women without men and show they haven’t conduct sexual relationship for a long time. The kinship between them reveals psychoanalytic criticism that one’s action is resulting from another one’s unconscious desire. The mother is the daughter of the grandma, and little red riding hood is the daughter of the mother where each of them carries expectations from their mothers. From the text, it mentions "Indirectly, Red Riding Hood's mother satisfies some of her sexual needs in the character of the grandmother. But, in addition, the mother seeks vicarious fulfillment through her daughter, with whom she identifies herself" (Mallet 9). The father of little red riding hood never appears in Perrault's version of the story which implies to the loneliness from the mother. The wolf eats the grandma who shows her satisfaction of sex from man and fulfillment of her daughter's sexual need from the absence of a husband. The grandma and the mother are each other’s second identities that they share feelings, and one of them accomplishes action can fill up another’s needs. Similarly, little red riding hood shares the bond with her mother, and she carries her mother's expectation of attracting the wolf. According to the text, it mentions "...the one expressed in words, to "walk decently" and stay out of trouble, and the underlying, unspoken message, to go out and seduce the wolf of her mother's vicarious pleasure" (Mallet 9-11). The author suggests little red riding hood's conflict with self and her mother is her another side of self that wants her to experience the sex. Little red riding hood's experience in sex is same as her mother having sex with the wolf in the little girl's body. The expression of the superego,…
