Unlike many other award shows, The Golden Globes have not received a lot of backlash. Even though some people weren't happy that Ricky Gervais hosted from 2010 to 2012, the Golden Globes have still not caused a lot of outrage until recently. People were not happy when they found out that Mel Gibson was going to be one of the presenters at the show.

Mel Gibson's career took a turn for the worse after he was pulled over for drunk driving. He also made some anti-Semitic remarks during this time. According to the police report, Gibson asked the police officer if he was Jewish. He then said the following "F*** the Jews. The Jew are responsible for all of the wars in the world. Gibson apologized for his comments and stated that he wants to put them
