New Kingdom

The 2nd intermediate period lasted over 100 years. This was when the pharoahs lost power and the Hyksos gained control over them. After defeating the Hyksos invaders, successive Pharaohs expanded and maintained their Empire through both force and diplomacy. In the process, they won Egypt vast amounts of gold, influence and respect. As a result the New Kingdom had began. The New Kingdom was during the time period of 1550-1070 BCE.
