Returning To School

Here I am, twenty-three years out of high school having to write a paper for school

again. I never thought I would have to do this again. As I mature, I am seeing the need to

further my education, not only for myself but for my family as well. In this paper, I will

help you understand why I am returning to school.

As I grow older, I needed to decide what I was going to do with my life. As I got

closer to graduating from high school in 2004, I was very much against the idea of

college. While growing up in a not so wealthy family, going to college wasn’t a priority;

helping my mom and brother was. But now, it is becoming more difficult to advance

without some sort of advanced education.

Returning back to school made a huge impact on my life. There were many

reasons why I choose to school to help better my self and to set a example for my sons

and for my niece and nephews. By choosing to go to school with help me in the future to

get a better job and job I like.
When I was in high school I always wanted to go to collage I wanted to become a

nurse like my mom but by time I graduated from high school in 2004, my goal of going to

college had chance I was dealing with personal problems and I run away from home.

Then just about a few months a go my friend was telling to go back to school I did not

where to start and I was not ready to leave my sons just yet, so she told me about online

classes . I look into it and that when I came to Ashford University and lady example

everything to me and told I could be home with my sons I was happy and decide to go. Returning Back To School

Transitioning back to the 'going to school' lifestyle was very difficult because I

working as a stay at home mother of two boys. I mean with taking care of my boys and

home-life errands I did not think I had time for school. The one thing I had to do to was

make a time for everything and everyone. I was just happy to be able to get my life back

on track. Going back to school when I did was a huge risk due to my schedule. Being a

stay at home mom, I decided that I would try on-line classes. I am so glad that I did.

Being in an on-line course, I feel like part of the class. It is a lot easier, for my kids and I.

As I once read, “The future doesn’t just drop into our laps…you get the future you

want by making it happen” (cited in Hudson and McLean, 2006, p.4). I have seen the

need to further my education. This will help my family and I live a more comfortable life

and make it easier to help my kids obtain their educational goals. I, as I think we all do,

want my children to live a better and more comfortable life than I had. The most

important message I am trying to convey to my children since having returned to school

after all these years, is that you are never done learning. If you have the determination and

self-discipline, you can accomplish anything you want.

I am returning to school is because of the ever growing workforce today. I mean

learn now if you don’t have kind of degree you are not going to get the job that is going to

make you or the money you need to keep your from sinking. I have a high school diploma

but that don’t you no where this time may be a job at a fast food place. I loving being Returning Back To School Returning 4

with kids and to work them I had to take a chance and get my degree in Early Childhood

Development.

I definitely believe that one of the major obstacles of returning to school, is that I

been in school since 2004 and know so I know it is not going to be easy and it is going to

take a lot of hard work. Like my mom always said "If you don't use it, you lose it!" With

taking online classes there are a lot help from a lot of people and really enjoy going to

school.

This was new ways, just like my schooling on the internet now. You learn with

what you have according of what is up to date, for today’s times of school. I can imagine

years from now what we will learn by. I do no this now. The more you learn the more you

no. Just coming back to school right now have been a good experience to me. I am

learning grammar. I feel this schooling on the internet is not bad at all. I just can’t wait till

the next school course.

In conclusion my life overall has been very hectic with trying to work, go to

school, having kids, and juggling a household. I know that I will have to study hard,

pace myself and pray that I will have the strength that we need to get through this so that

my children will have a better tomorrow.
