God in My Life
I have always tried to make God the priority in my life. I’m not very good at it, but I always try. I love to help others out and lend a helping hand. I was raised in church all my life, but it has always been hard for me to get into it. My youth group was really small, and I always saw it as a chore. Then Rustin invited me to Oneighty. I loved it. I have been going for almost 3 years now, and I want to be able to give back what I have been blessed with. Oneighty changed my life. I want to be able to come closer to the Lord and understand him better. Ever since Rustin invited me that first night, my life has changed. I have always enjoyed serving others and helping out when needed. I learn better hands on. Being a part of the learning will teach me so much. I want to be able to help everyone out. I know that disciplining others will also help me to be a better Christian. I am not the strongest Christian right now, but I know that being more involved will help me to be stronger. I know deep in my heart that I need the lord and everyone does too, but its hard to live that life. I fall into temptation very easily and getting more involved in church will help me make the right decision. I have a gift in leading others. I believe the lord wanted me to lead others. I have never been a follower at anything. I have always wanted to be the one in charge and telling what to do. For me, Oneighty is my place of escape. At school there are so many distractions from nonchristians. I want to get more involved in ministry and I believe Oneighty is the place for me. I am about to go to graduate and go to college, and I know there are so many distractions there. I need a place I can go to during the school year to help me stay in touch with God during the year. I am not very good at going to new churches and I know Oneighty completely believes in God and teaches only the truth. I want to continue going to Oneighty for as long as

A major part of the book is on how God develops a leader over time. Many young leaders don’t understand that there is a process that one has to go through in order to lead others. That process does not happen overnight. In fact the process never stops. God is always processing us to serve Him and His church better. These times of processing can occur because of crises, illness, persecution or discipline, self-choice, or providential circumstances.1 These moments of process are times where God teaches us life and leadership lessons. We are not only shaped by our training but also by our experiences.…

In this week’s review, we seek to gain an understanding of what an organic church model looks like. Cole is the author of our text, Church 3.0 and within this book, he points out how church today has not changed much since the early days and that we in our day and culture need to make some much desired changes as to how we do church. Cole tells us that how we are doing church today in the modern society just isn’t working. We have an abundance of mega churches that attract people to them, but, the truth is, they are just one in a big crowd of people. So, Cole provides us with Church 3.0, an organic, missional way to do and be the church.…

In John Wesley’s fourth sermon on the Sermon of the Mount, he makes the point that Christianity is a social religion. Christianity is not practiced in a vacuum. As Christians, he says, we gather as a community, holding one another accountable to the faith and being with one another as we grow in relationship with God. Beyond that, as a social religion, Christianity calls us to have an impact on our communities, to care about others, and to be involved in making social changes for the betterment of the world. The church should foster these Christian communities, providing space in which Christians and those exploring Christianity can live their faith with one another. Wesley’s two-part understanding of the social nature of Christianity and the church leads us to the stated mission of the United Methodist Church – “to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” This mission matters because our world needs transformation, and our call as the church is to work in concert with God to bring about the Kingdom of God – on earth, and within and through our lives.…

Why did I get baptized? The answer to that was simple; everyone else in my family were already Christian so I might as well follow their lead. I lived for six years after that not knowing the true meaning behind being a Christian. I was constantly angry and hurt and heart-broken and filled with lust and the list goes on... and on… I was poor but God provided; I was weak but God made me strong; I was broken but God mended my broken pieces, and through all this, I knew it had to be God because I could not make it through those rough,…

Growing up as a missionary kid, my faith has been a primary source of discernment, and spiritual development. A large part of my identity comes my Baptist tradition, and I continue to be a part of this denominational affiliation as an adult. It was inside the walls of a Baptist church where I was first exposed to the liberating yet dangerous responsibility of the “priesthood of all believers” and “soul freedom,” and where I chose to follow Christ and experience salvation on a personal level.…

For this project, I am placing myself in a hypothetical context as a staff pastoral counselor at my home church in Valley City, ND, serving a congregation of approximately 200. I have chosen as my overarching goal for life to serve others in the capacity for which the Lord has gifted me and prepared me to counsel and minister to them. 1 Peter 4:9 tells us that, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” I believe that serving in a counseling role is my gift, and that it is my calling to use that gift to serve others, and in doing so, to obey God.…

Throughout my life I have always been committed and passionate in what I do. My faith fell first on this list. From a very young age I knew the importance and growth that came from knowing God and being an active member of a church family. The growth I experienced in church manifested and trickled out into my everyday life including academics. Central Advent Christian Church set this foundation of growth as a young man which has allowed me to build upon this foundation.…

My faith is a major part of my life. I was born and raised Catholic. I've been very involved in youth ministry my whole life. It's made me step outside my shell and face my fear because when god is in the picture there should be no fear. I’ve been on four mission trips including Quad Cities, Detroit Lakes, Springfield, and Farmington. I like to get out into the community and help those in need, of all different walks of life. On mission trip you learn many different stories about many great individuals. You get to talk to them and share your story. My story is my parents got divorced and it ruined me. I got…

I realized that I wasn't content with how I was living or how I was not pleasing to God's will and his purpose for my life. At times, I would get discouraged, stressed, worried or felt like I was not good enough for God. As I begun reading Romans 12:2 over and over again, it reminded me that God loves me, and wants me to be the best I can be, because I was created in his image.…

I was the prodigal daughter. Moreover, He continued to lead me towards Him. It was like I’d flown back into a cage of sin that had once held me with the false presumption that it would keep me safe, and God was leading me back out of the cage and into the freedom of His love. He lead me to drop out of college during my first year, and I did. Then He lead me to start attending another church, and I did - it was probably the most nerve-wracking of my journey, but I did. At this point, I was able to look back at the past He’d saved me from and see the destruction, hurt, and rubble that He’d pulled me out of. I didn’t want to go back, and now I know that I won’t. He has something bigger than planned for…

The first way that I will stay active in church is continuing to go to church on Sundays or Saturdays. Another way I will stay active in church is volunteer work. I like to volunteer, and I also like what I can do for the church, so that encourages me to continue. The third way that I will stay active in church is getting my family to go to church more often. Sometimes my family is busy during worship or do not want to go, so if I can get them to go when they do not want to go, it will let us be more religious when we are together. The fourth way I will stay active is, praying for people who cannot make it to church that week. The final way I will stay active is, telling the people who missed church what they missed. If a person really wanted to go to church, they will not feel as bad since they would know what they missed. Those are five ways that I will stay active in…

That night, in my cell, I fell to my knees and gave my life back to Jesus. From that day on, I have gotten back involved with the Church and focused my energy and passion into the Church. In 2009, I studied hard and learned everything I needed to know to serve in the Church. In 2010, I opened my Para-ministry, Spiritual United Ministries International. I was also certified as a Christian Chaplain by the International Federation of Christian Chaplains. In 2011, I…
