“Lilliana, Lilliana!”
Her mother’s voice echoed in her mind. Lilliana regressed back into her consciousness. She turned to see Queen Iris’s worried expression staring back at her.
“Mother?”
“Yes,” she pulled her into a comforting embrace, “you were having another night terror.”
Lilliana pulled back. “It was so real.”
The Queen brushed her chestnut brown hair behind her ear. She kissed her temple. “It was only a dream Lilliana.” She smiled, “There is nothing for you to be afraid of.”
Lilliana looked in her mother’s gray-blue eyes. “It was more than a dream. I felt it.”

He jerked his hand back, shaking the sting away. “There has to be some explanation.” He murmured, turning to look back at Yorst, “what else have you discovered?”
Yorst shook his head, “We searched the crater and found many more of these stones imbedded in the walls. All the men who had been gathering samples for our chemists to analyze became terribly ill from being in too proximity. There was a very vile odor as well. Evidence showed that something had clawed its way out.”
“And you are sure the humans are not involved?”
“There was no indication, although…” The generals, voice trailed off. Arin sensed that he was remembering something specific that hadn’t been important until now.
