Go Negosyo
The true purpose of the youth summit “Go Negosyo” according to Joey Concepcion (founder of Go Negosyo) was to inculcate to the youth the right mindset in putting/starting up a business. We must have the right values to be possessed. According to Atty. Felipe Gozon, current chief executive and chair of GMA Network Inc., one of the largest media networks in the Philippines, an entrepreneur must have a positive work attitude and starts with the youth. He said that we are lawyers by professions. The most economically progressive countries are the China and the United States. He shared his experiences being an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur according to him must realize his/her prorioties. He/she must have the courage and willingness to get out of his comfort zone and don’t just be contented on what he/she had. One of his inspiring message was “We do what we say, and we say what we do”. We must face the challenges. Somebody may think something better for the following day. If you manage to find yourself at the top, don’t just be contented by it, continue to embrace change. Somehow, there is a better way on doing such things. Always remember, there is someone who can able to do things you do at better manners. Take courage in every failure, what matters is that don’t lose your lesson. These are the things I have learned from him. The next speaker was the Vice President of the Philippines, Hon. Jejomar Binay. He told us a story based on a famous video uploading website. After sharing this with us, he said that e have our own role in the society. Every individual must act according on what is ethical. Based on Joey Ayala’s song, “Kung kaya nating isipin, kaya nating gawin”, one step at the time, we can do things that we think are impossible. One of the awardees of Go Negosyo was Injap Sia, founder of Mang Inasal. He is from Iloilo. They first have one branch of Mang Inasal in 2003, as of now, they have 296 branches nationwide. The secret of his success according to him

I could hear the world screaming. The people were shouting my name. Some descriptions were bad, some were good. What was important was that I had my supporters. Without them, I would not be standing in this nerve-wracking podium. My mind crumbled as I got near the microphone as the crowds cheered up. It was my first time to speak for my fellow Filipinos and I wanted to make them happy by providing my service for the country. I closed my eyes for a while to have some peace inside my head. My body was floating in my dark secret universe as I hear loud voices singing my name. Finally, I found the peace that I was longing for a very long time. I slowly opened my eyes and took a deep breath before I…

Last July 28, 2014, President Benigno S. Aquino III had his fifth State of the Nation Address. This serves as a means to inform the nation about the present conditions of the country. SONA 2014 highlights the achievements of the administration on education, social services, economy, infrastructure, calamity efforts, jobs, rehabilitations after typhoons and earthquakes, modernization of AFP, security, ARMM Bangsamoro and livelihood. The President used many metaphors in uttering his speech, he started with a common Filipino saying, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makararating sa paroroonan.” It is just right because this is his second to the last year in service, before he entered, our country was filled with problems left unsolved. Before, we were considered “The Sick Man of Asia” with weak economy and sparse industry. Corruption was also endemic. And maybe when we look back to the past with a lot of problems impossible to solve, we will be motivated to correct mistakes, within the President’s leadership we began to hope and had our journey on a straight and righteous path or the so called “Tuwid na Daan.”…

It is hoped that after reading this module you will actually see the potential of a career in entrepreneurship, and experience a desire to start a venture of your own. At the same time there might be certain inhibitions in your mind whether such a task is feasible, practical and sustainable. For every task one needs certain competencies. In this module you would learn in detail about the entrepreneurial competencies. Whereas competencies reinforce a person’s perception of feasibility of a career option, there also has to be the will and urge, a ‘perception of the desirability.’ Is it not impossible that entrepreneurship has a key role to play in economic development, yet there are very few who ever think of it as a career option? And, it is not that they may be lacking in skills. What one often finds is the lack of motivation! Competencies equip you with the knowledge of how to do (‘know-how’) of entrepreneurial behavior and motivation provides answers to why to do (‘know-why’) of entrepreneurial behavior. You would also be learning about why people opt for entrepreneurship. The question of ‘why entrepreneurship’ is also linked to reward expectations, be these financial, social status or psychological satisfaction. In case of entrepreneurship, successful performance of the venture itself becomes a reward for the entrepreneur.…
