Giuliani
Rudy Giuliani is currently seeking the Republican nomination in the 2008 United States presidential election. He is an American lawyer, businessman, and politician from the state of New York. Rudolph William Louis Giuliani was born in the New York City borough of Brooklyn on May 28, 1944, the only child of working class parents Harold Angel Giuliani and Helen C. D’Avanzo. He had a strong Italian influence due to the fact that he was the grandson of Italian immigrants. At a young age, Rudy did not have the best impression of what a true man was. His father could no longer support the family, so in turn sought out a life of crime. This landed him in Sing Sing Prison. In 1951, when Giuliani was seven he moved to Garden City South on Long Island and attended a local Catholic school. Later, he attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, Manhattan College, and New York University Law School. At Manhattan College, he majored in political science with a minor in philosophy. At NYU Law School, he made law review and graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor in 1968.
Giuliani started his political life as a Democrat and said he had admired the Kennedy family and volunteered for Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1968. Also in the mid-1960s he worked as a Democratic Party committeeman on Long Island. In 1975, Giuliani switched his party registration from Democrat to Independent. In the 1980s, a month after the election of Ronald Reagan he switched his party affiliation again from Independent to
