Gilbert Grape Family

Family are typically consisted of a mother, father, and their children typically living in one roof this is typically known as a nuclear family yet, is it still considered a family when one parents is present instead of two parents. Time has proven to show that a family no longer has to be the traditional two parents house hold, that a family is consistent of people that each care of each other such as friends. In cases such as Gilbert Grape family he lives in a one parent household in which the children have taken upon themselves to replace the role they traditionally did not have growing up. How can anyone become be a parent if they had not had a good example of parent for them around. Within the movie we see the main characters struggles
Gilbert and family grew up with two parents but it was not until his father had took his own life in with things change causing the mother to go into depression which had lead to her to become a shell of her former self. After the lost of Gilbert father his ,mother refused to move causing her to gain tremendous weight to the point in which she was unable to do the smallest task without some form of assistance.In the eyes fo gilbert as well as the other children she is sceen a bordern since each child has to take on the repsonace abiiltes to insure she as well as aritey the metally inable child functioning. It is later understood that she know that she was a fault in many of the problem in the house but it was not until her passing in which her rolls was truly understood. Although much of the family problem and anger was a fault of the mother, it was not fully understood until after her death that her true rolls as mother was understood although much of the arguing was cause by her the reason they had stay together was for her.
