Gieseck's Clothing Case Study
The students washed their hands as far up to the elbow in the nurse's office and Ms. Gieseck changed her clothing as some of the liquid spilled onto the thigh area of her clothing. Both students reported that only their hands and Ms. Gieseck's right thigh came in contact with the liquid.

Mr. Angel Rodriguez and Ms. Alicia Gieseck were observed by EMT upon their arrival to the school and both were cleared. In addition, since the students came in direct contact with the liquid they were released to their parents, where both went home and showered before returning to campus.

The bottles with Formaldehyde containing the specimens where removed by animal control.

The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was one of the most tragic fires in New York City up until the terrorist attack on the world trade center on 9/11. On a late spring Saturday afternoon on March 25, 1911 near closing time , the top three floors of the Asch building in the triangle shirtwaist factory caught fire. This fire would change New York tremendously. 147 woman and children out of the 275 working that day died in this fire (women history.about.com/od/triangle/a/shirtwaist_fact_4.him). If it was not the fire that killed them, it was the impact from the jump they took from the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth floor. It was devastating for the bystanders and families watching their neighbors and loved ones jump to their death. Remaining and future workers garnered the much needed support of labor unions because of this tragic event. The women and children that worked for the shirtwaist factory owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris were working under deplorable conditions. Although, their building was considered a more modern building with a high sealing and more updated machinery, it lacked human rights and safe working condition. Mr. Harris and Mr. Blanck considered these women and children two hands, not human beings.…

Another example of an environmental hazard that could occur within a hospital is spilled substances, whether it be a knocked over drink, leaking intravenous fluids or even urine spillages from bedpans. A spillage is a common hazard within the workplace, and it can cause a lot of harm though the severity would depend on how bad the fall or slip on the wet surface is. This type of hazard would mainly affect staff but it could also be a potential threat to patients, especially if they have broken limbs and would not be able to support their falls properly.…

In the american revolution, generally, many people did not dress as we would today. They didn’t wear short skirts and tank tops, or sneakers and caps. But instead they wore long pants, to protect their legs from mosquitoes and large hats to save them from the sun. Back then, they considered this fashionable, yet healthy to wear. Soldiers would unfortunately not get the opportunity to wear this clothing, but the suppliers of it, are free to all day. In some ways, clothing in the 1700’s was similar to those of now. We still wear jeans, but usually just because it’s cold, not to prevent disease. We also wear hats, and for all the same reason. To block out the sun, and also, hats can be pretty stylish.…

My objective recall to the situation was that I prepared my patient’s evening medications, and had given them to her. I had explained what each medication was and its purpose. She had agreed to take them. I had noticed that there was not water at the bedside, therefore I had went into the bathroom for a very short amount of time to fill up her cup with water for her to swallow the medication. When I came back and handed her the cup she stated “it is okay I already took them”. I did not observe the patient swallowing her medications, which were stool softeners.…
