Is ghost or spirit real? How do they affect our society? What can be psychologically explained about it? Spirit for religious, ghost for atheist, demons for some and evils for others, the concept of unidentifiable living being is diversely perceived and interpreted. But, who/what are they, and how they live still the unanswered question. Religiously speaking, Muslims believe in ghost and spirit which are considered and called JINN. The Holly Qur'an states, “He (God) created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery, and the Jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire” (Ch 55-vs 14-15). Besides Muslims, Christians also believe in ghost and spirits. According to the Holly Bible, ghosts are true living being. When Jesus appeared to his disciples walking on the lake, they were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have." (Luke 24:37-39). In the light of these two important books, ghosts are living being. They are divided into positives and negatives. For other cultural believes in my country (Ivory Coast), ghosts are cursed spirit or the representation of our ancestors. If the reality of ghosts and spirits can be interminably discussed, it is true that we are diversely affected in our societies by those ghosts and spirits. During a mental disorder problem, hallucination and delusion occur. They are the phenomenon that we consider as the main symptoms of what is qualified by Scientists (psychologists) as brain dysfunction and called schizophrenia. A person suffering from schizophrenia may hear voices, or see things (Hallucination). Others may experience some emotional disturbance or acting strangely (Delusion). Well, according to some people, these are the signs

To clarify what's out there to be investigated, Southall begins the handbook in earnest by defining the terms, since ghosts, spirits and poltergeists are not interchangeable and represent quite different phenomena.Ghosts and apparitions are a kind a recording on the environment - a residual energy that can come from a person, animal or even an inanimate object. We can experience these lingering energies by sight, sound, smell and touch. Spirits are what people most often think of as "ghosts." A spirit is the "actual sentient presence, or soul, of an individual or individuals who have remained in the material world after his or her physical body has died." Southall continues by describing different types of spirits and the reasons they may have stayed behind.…

Whether you side with the spiritual side or the scientific side, the poltergeist phenomenon is one that is difficult to wrap your mind around. There are many things revolving this phenomenon that are still unknown. Thanks to the curiosity sparked up in the minds of the dubious, we are not so much in the dark in regards to this phenomenon. Poltergeists were present in the hauntings of Amityville, and they exist among us. It is wrong to view the stories of the families that lived in the Amityville house as a hoax because it is clear that there are outside forces that we are not all well informed about; and just because we are ill-informed, does not make them any less…

Schizophrenia one of the more common psychological disorders, also called mental illnesses. Schizophrenia affects behavior as well as thoughts, and encompasses many different things, including auditory hallucinations and mood swings. At some point this disorder may even manifest itself into a psychotic phase that involves delusions and disorganized speech along with bizarre behavior. People who have schizophrenia believe that the hallucinations are real, and even if they don’t believe that the hallucination is real, it seems real. The way that schizophrenia manifests itself is different from person to person. Some people can manage to live life fully independently with schizophrenia, and with medication can keep it under control. However, other people may never be able to function fully, and will not be able to live on their own due to the delusions and hallucinations. In severe progressions of this disorder, people lose the ability to keep in touch with reality, and become paranoid and anti-social, while often being petrified of the hallucinations that they live with.…

“Schizophrenia is characterized by a constellation of distinctive and predictable symptoms. The symptoms that are most commonly associated with the disease are called positive symptoms, which denote the presence of grossly abnormal behavior. These include thought disorder, delusions, and hallucinations. Thought disorder is the diminished ability to think clearly and logically. Often it is manifested by disconnected and nonsensical language that renders the person with schizophrenia incapable of participating in conversation, contributing to his alienation from his family, friends, and society. Delusions are common among individuals with schizophrenia. An affected person may believe that he is being conspired against. Hallucinations can be heard, seen, or even felt; most often they take the form of voices heard only by the afflicted person,” (http://www.schizophrenia.com). While these symptoms are obvious, consistent, and usually expected from those affected by schizophrenia, there are also “quieter indications” known as “negative symptoms,” that may contribute to the gravity of the illness. The quieter symptoms are responsible for the absence of “normal” behavior. In other words, people might have a dull or flattened reaction to things, people, and situations; they often show lack of emotions and other physical expressions. They might also act and feel indifferent, becoming more and more socially…

Two main types of symptoms occur for schizophrenia positive and negative symptoms. Positive symptoms reflect an excess or distortion of normal functioning. This includes delusions, hallucinations, and severely disorganized absence or reduction of normal functions, such as greatly reduced motivation, emotional expressiveness, or speech. Schizophrenic delusions are not simply unconventional or inaccurate beliefs. Rather, they are bizarre and far-fetched notions. Hallucinations often are tied to the person’s delusional beliefs. For example, if a woman harbors delusions of grandeur, hallucinated voices may reinforce her grandiose ideas by communicating instructions from God, the devil, or angels. According to DSM-IV-TR, schizophrenia is diagnosed when two…

Spiritualism is a system of belief or religious practice based on supposed communication with the spirits of the dead, especially through mediums. The beginning of the Spiritualism movement was March 31, 1848. The two sisters, Kate and Margaret Fox, were the first ones to report contact with a spirit. They lived in Hydesville, New York, and reportedly would create pranks to trick their parents into believing there was a spirit residing in their home. At first, the Fox sisters would attach apples to strings and through them down the stairs to resemble the sound of footprints. Later, their tricks had gain popularity and the two sisters would have crowds gathered around as they contacted spirits of lost ones.…
