Getting Fired from a Job

One of the main purposes of travel is to gain experiences that allow us to grow and develop as individuals and it is important that people travel the way that bests suits them at a particular time. For example, I like to go on adventure holidays and this invariably includes a small group and expert guide, and I frequently participate in writing retreats around the world with like-minded people. However for me, the real joy of travelling has always been to take off on my own and just 'see' what comes along the way. Of course this can sometimes be fraught with frustrations, difficulties and even dangers.
Advantages of travelling alone * Freedom Most people who travel alone generally cite freedom as the great motivating factor: freedom to please themselves, go where and when they want, change their plans on a whim when they hear about something that is a 'must' to see, and to accept spontaneous invitations by locals. * No compromises This is associated with the previous point. Even if travelling with one other person, be it friend, colleague, lover or spouse, there will always be some compromises required. Not everyone has the same interests or the same energy levels, some people need to be emotionally supported all the time, others are apathetic, some have different attitudes to time. With solo travel, there is no peer pressure over finances, the unspoken need to divide up restaurant bills equally, or guilt trips when you want to go off on your own for a while. * Meeting people Travelling solo does not mean that you will always be alone. In fact, it allows you to meet more people because other tourists and locals find an individual traveller more approachable than those in a tightly-knit group. Also, people in groups have very little need to reach out to others for communication. I have met more people, had more interesting conversations and invitations and made more long-term friends while eating alone in foreign restaurants or sitting alone at bars.

    Travel Alone? Group?

First of all I would like to focus on travelling alone. As I have explained going alone means travelling to a new country without the company of a friend or a guide. The positive things that you can get are that there are more freedom in adventures you can go to, you can walk on your own pace, you can experience things your map doesn’t tell you like an exotic transportation using a rickshaw, perhaps you have family along the way of your travel you can go visit them on your way, you can choose who you want to be friends with during your trip, and many more. But the downhill of this is that you might get robbed and if you are in another country and you don’t have any relatives you may get conned and get lost in your way, the visa would also probably be harder to get and if you promised to go to somewhere and you don’t get a permit your planned trip will only be a waste of time and energy.…

Whilst, the contrasts of two choices are mainly about freedom and safety, interest and convenience of the travel. Most people who travel alone generally cite freedom as the great motivating factor: freedom to please themselves, go where and when they want, change their plans on a whim when they hear about something that is a 'must' to see, and to accept spontaneous invitations by locals.(Pemela Bradley 2009) However, when enjoying freedom, safety is less guaranteed naturally. Companies that offer tour packages are completely aware of situations in a particular place, the risks and the safe zones and hence you can enjoy a safe holiday.( Helen Troy 2013) That is the first difference. In addition, two types of travel have disparate entertainment. By…

Travelling alone has many benefits. It is excellent way to meet many more single travelers and to make a conversation whit them, something what you will avoid when you are in group. When you are alone you look at your interests and you do not conform with anyone. You go wherever you want to and you enjoy this without the muttering people all around you when you are in group (they are always there). When you go on some of these activities you meet other people who share your passion. The other benefit is that when you travel in a group with bus the guides has the skill to make you sleep. The most guides’ voices became monotonous with the years repeating the same words.…

I have been exposed to traveling ever since I learned how to speak, whether by boat, bus, or plane. Living in Kuwait, a country in the Middle East, my whole family and I did our best to visit our family and friends back home in the Philippines. I learned the basics of traveling from my father and through observation. As a child I had always been excited before boarding a plane and as someone who lives far from a home country, learning to travel is a must. My father told me, that when you grow up you should learn how to travel alone. I figured that moment would be very soon. From all my experience of 11-hour flights, one stands among them all. My first time traveling alone.…

Travel also teaches you independence, because it allows you to escape the familiar surroundings of home and stay in a strange or alien place. Just arranging travel and accommodation can give you new responsibilities. Often when people travel they leave everyday troubles behind and have to learn to cope without them. Improvising or making do without them teaches patience and determination, and when you return home you become more grateful for the things you left behind.
