Gerontological Physical Therapy: Progressive Resistance Exercise In the article, “Progressive Resistance Exercise in Physical Therapy: A Summary of Systematic Reveiws” consist of article reviews wrote by authors who raise the importance of Progressive Resistance Exercise in physical therapy. The term Progressive Resistance Exercise, is not well known in physical therapy because of the term “strengthening” the author suggests. The authors also declare that the term “strengthening” is overused but is parallel with the principles of Progressive Resistance Exercise. The main focus for the review was to inspect the advantages of disadvantages of Progressive Resistance Exercise in physical therapy to improve the outcome of patients who are prescribe treatment by physical therapist. The authors explain that traditionally young adult athletes utilized Progressive Resistance Exercise to enhance their performance but evidence proves that Progressive Resistance Exercise training is effective for older adults with health problems. Adults the age of fifty-five and older with type 2 diabetes may undergoes their prescribed treatment, which may consist of eight to ten exercises working the upper limbs, lower limbs, and trunk. The author note that Bone Mineral Density programs had longer duration than designed programs to generate muscle force. Results from a study showed little but significant, effect of resistance on training for the maintain lumbar spine Bone Mineral Density in women who were in postmenopausal. This particular study proves, there are disadvantage of Progressive Resistance Exercise. Readers may infer that Progressive Resistance Exercise has little effect on bone health in women for the reason that, the author believes few trials in the investigation was made, may have led Progressive Resistance Exercise on Bone Mineral Density less significant

Some of the physical therapist are working in hospitals and others have their own practice. They see a number of patients throughout their day that range from a number of issues to injuries. They have assistant physical therapist to help with all the patients they see throughout their day. There can also be interns that are still in physical therapy school, such as Mercer, Barry, North Georgia, and Georgia Southern, are trying to become physical therapists or assistant physical therapists. Exercise therapy programs consists of a schedule with certain physical activities and workouts to achieve specific tonic goals, such as maximizing the strength of a person’s treated area. Anyone with chronic back pain, spinal cord injury, and even knee osteoarthritis can get assigned to exercise therapy. Most exercise therapy based programs are 12 weeks long, but in some cases they can be shorter and in some cases they may be longer. While most athletes in particular who pull a muscle, break a bone, or suffer a severe tear to one of their body tissues must enter an exercise therapy program. If a person goes to a specific clinic or facility with a great team of exercise therapists they will create the ultimate game plan in order for that person to gain the maximum amount of strength they can.
