Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band Case Study
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Marching Band has a Uniforms department which is charged with keeping track of and maintaining all uniform pieces that are given to the members of the band. At present, the department uses a system of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to record and keep track of this information.
Our goal would be to streamline this process and migrate the Uniforms department to a more independent software solution. In order to achieve this, we would create a cross-platform desktop/mobile application with a database backend to allow the clients to use our application whenever and wherever the situation demands it. Our solution should make it easier for the uniforms staff to look up uniform data on any member of the band,

Dear Principle Spencer, Associate Principal Lee, and Athletic Director Fry: You do so much for this school. The goal of success for all students is incredibly apparent through your actions. It is obvious that the football team is amazing, and so are the other sports. They all put forth hard work, and earn their greatness. But you are neglecting a major part of home football games: the marching band. The Turpin Marching Band is one of, if not the biggest team in the school, with 150 members. These people train just as hard as the football team. I can tell you with experience, with how many times I’ve pushed a heavy synth cart through the mud, or up the hill to the stadium like King Sisyphus’ boulder in the underworld. I’ve marched so hard I…

Keys and Tejeda wanted their club to be at the cutting edge of technology but they are struggling to make that happen. ClubIT can be a fun and inviting place. Having recently remodeled the club the owners now need to remodel their technology system. The club has an older intranet system available to their employees. The ClubIT can change the way their customers relate to their business by implementing a web based technology system that offers more up to date information about the club. This would also benefit their employees. Having a more user friendly web based system the employees and customers alike could offer the ability for each person to personalize the information that they see. A web based system could be used by employees to access their personnel files through a secure server where each would have a unique ID and password, they would then be able to access all of their information including hourly wages, year to date pay, the amount of vacation time they have available and reviews by their peers.…

The US Army 670-1 is the basis for the wear and appearance of all military uniforms to include ACU , BDU, DCU, ASU, and all PT uniforms. It was formed so that all soldiers wear the uniform the same to instill discipline and a professional appearance. This regulation applies to officers and enlisted the same. It was formed to give the exact dimensions for badges tabs patches and rank. The proponent of this regulation is the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-1. The proponent has the authority to approve exceptions or waivers to this regulation that are consistent with controlling law and regulations. The proponent may delegate this approval authority, in writing, to a division chief within the proponent agency or its direct reporting unit or field operating agency, in the grade of colonel or the civilian equivalent. Activities may request a waiver to this regulation to this regulation by providing justification that includes a full analysis of the expected benefits and must include formal review by the activity’s senior legal officer. All waiver requests will be endorsed by the commander or senior leader of the requesting activity and forwarded through their higher headquarters to the policy proponent. Refer to AR 25-30 for specific guidance. As stated there in the beginning of the 670-1 there is only a few people that actually have the power to change or alter the uniform. So the big things looked for in uniform discrepancies is lopsided rank or badges, gaps in the badges to the army patch. And all ribbons are in order. We have these rules to keep the public view and the universal view of our army as professional and not a group of missfits. A sense of pride should be in every soldier as to how they where there uniform which today soldiers tend to wear the uniform however they please with no corrections or actions taken by those appointed over them. Now this is not only a problem in leadership but in the individual soldier. Todays army problems are starting from the very…

The best way to approach the situation is for the organization to partner up with a uniform company and create a reasonable and affordable contract to manufacture uniforms and sell them at reasonable prices that the staff can afford. Initially the company may have to provide two or three pairs of uniforms to each staff member and from then on, the staff will be responsible for buying their own. This will make the changing process much easier, because one of the reasons that staff members will come up with to resist the change, will be that they do not have extra money in their budgets to buy new uniforms when they already have plenty of…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

Before I had even started high school I hit a very deep depression. I struggled with it for years. I felt I had no family and no friends. It was a very hard time for me. I didn't enjoy talking about my feelings or being around people due to the fact that I felt I just annoyed those around me. Despite this, I continued doing what I loved most: music. I began marching band my eighth grade year and loved the feeling of being on the field in the lights when our assistant band director would come over the loud speaker announcing the "McClain Marching Tigers and Tigerettes". It helped me find and accept who I am. I gained confidence and learned to lead and understand. It even introduced me to my closest friend whom introduced me to his friend group, giving me the first group of friends I had in my life. I've met so many new people and learned so many new skills throughout my marching career and I look forward to finishing out my senior year with the people who have been there with me from the beginning.…

In the army there are many uniforms a soldier has to wear. This is for the different activities a soldier does. For everything from their daily Physical Training (PT), their regular working uniform Army Combat Uniform (ACU), or their dress uniform either the Army Service Uniform (ASU), or the Army Green Service Uniform (Class A). Each uniform is design to fit a specific task and to be worn a in certain way. A great resource for either the ASU or the Class A is the “U.S. ARMY UNIFORM GUIDE.” I found this little book a great resource because it shows every form of the ASU for both males and females soldiers, for officers and enlisted. I found this to be great because it shows where everything goes, and how to measure everything, and for a new soldier like me it is important to have the little things right.…
