Today is February 19, 2012 and we are celebrating the President’s Day. This day was designated to honor all the presidents of the America. The most honored and respected two American presidents at that time were, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. George Washington’s birthday was on February 22, 1732 while Abraham Lincoln’s birthday was on February 12, 1809. Back then, Washington and Lincoln’s birthdays were celebrated separately, falling on their actual birthdays. However, the Congress soon passed a law saying that the holidays should all be celebrated on Mondays making it three-to-four-day weekends. Then the holiday was renamed to “President’s Day.” When people started to realize that it wasn’t very good for us to celebrate a day where it doesn’t fall on any of their birthdays, the conflict rose, and was brought back down. Many people were against the holiday’s renaming, since they believed not all the presidents should be respected or specially recognized. But, that too was brought down when most of the American states agreed on naming it “President’s Day.” Meantime, some people actually liked the fact that they could do longer sales with the attention of their viewers. Nowadays, we celebrate the wonderful holiday with delight. People bring out their grills, blast loud music, and have parties with families. This day is well-respected by many and there are numbers of sites you can visit to see and learn more about this specific holiday. Schools are out on this thankful holiday, and exaggerates the importance of these two wonderful leaders of America, George Washington and Abraham…
