George Ritzer's Mcdonaldization Paper
George Ritzer used the term “McDonaldization” to describe new industrialized societies. Cities all over the world try to find ways to make things as easy and quick as possible. Ritzer uses McDonaldization to describe this because fast food restaurants are typically efficient, easy, and controlled through automation (Giddens, Duneier, Appelbaum, and Carr, 2014, p. 149).
Ritzer’s whole theory was based off Max Weber’s theory of rationalization. Rationalization is when traditional and emotional thought is replaced by efficiency and reason.
