The forecast shows no rain and she had only checked recently. Another time, she was taking her dog Benny outside and she was seeing strange shadows in her backyard. They weren’t coming from behind the fence either almost as if it were coming from around her own yard. She scanned the lot but found nothing.
She went back to reading her book and by page 99 something started to slowly emerge from her book. What is it? She thought. It was green, leafy, and viney. It was a plant. The middle of the plant opened as if it exploded and let out a toxic and Alex passed

perceive the novel in the rational of an eleven-year-old girl. One short, simple sentence is followed by another , relating each in an easy flow of thoughts. Gibbons allows this stream of thoughts to again emphasize the childish perception of life's greatest tragedies.
