George herbert walker bush was born the second of five children born to prescott and dorothy bush. his father left in 1952 to serve as a republican senator. He graduated from phillips academy in massachusetts in 1942. He then enrolled in the U.S. naval reserve to serve in WW2. he was awarded with the distinguished flying cross for his actions when his craft was shot down. Bush married Barbara pierce in 1945.
