Advantages
Genetic differentiation – disease / illness easily to deal with means less drugs and healthcare needed thus lower medical costs
Provides more people of working age from labour to government management people are available to fill these drops
An increase in economic output due to increased work, especially in labour some jobs thus a stimulated economy and a higher GDP
An increasing population also strengthens a country politically and militarily and gives it the power to defend itself and operate elsewhere.
Creates a source of innovation and ideas
Disadvantages
High crime rates may occur due to a huge gap in class occurring with some prospering but due to an overwhelming number of people many can’t be provided for thus crime and social issues arise.
Generally high levels of unemployment occur as a result of too many people for too few jobs
Decrease in availability of countries resources which have an effect on the world also, economically and environmentally.
Alternatively a country may not be able to support the health requirements of its people

More people employed and providing for families
Easier for the government to reduce subsidies etc and makes it easier for government to support population
Disadvantages
An increase in the proportion of elderly residents can occur and as a result there are less people to support/ look after them in their old age.
Less economically active, with an increase in importing than exporting thus taxing the economy rather than stimulating it.
Increased taxing of the non working age
Less human capital available thus the working age increase e.g England 65.
