It is a grouping of hundreds of little tiny islets, but the main land consists of three larger land masses called islands. Fiji's is a warm tropical place with maximum temperatures being in the high 70s and 80s year round. Figi's has plenty of rainfall, with 74in to 118in per year. Figi's is very mountainous, I mean it was created by volcanoes, so most of the islands are mountains are called Cannibal Isles, because of their ferocious natives that were cannibals. …show more content…

We have many great clubs here at Chino Hills High School. One of my favorites is the Polynesian club. I like watching them dance because it is really entertaining and fun to watch. Andrew Santos is a junior here at Chino Hills High and is in Poly. He is a junior officer for the club. What they do is teach people Hawaiian and Tahitian style of dancing. They practice at the school on Thursdays and Saturdays. Andrew got his inspiration for Poly by going to one of the luaus for his brother’s girlfriend. He had a lot of fun there and wanted to do it when he was going to be a freshman at Chino Hills High. He plans to continue it for all four years of high school. Now, he is an officer, which means he helps choreograph and teach…

Using the DT tables as taught in the lecture, I have determined that the Solomon Islands are periphery to New Zealand. The data in the DT tables for the Solomon Islands (Regions; de Blij, Muller, 2012 DT-6) shows low percentages in literacy at 62.4% in males and 44.9% in females whereas in New Zealand, the literacy rate is 100%. In the Solomon Islands, life expectancy is at 62 year of age for males and 63 years for females. This data is lower than the data provided for New Zealand. In New Zealand, life expectancy for males is 78 years of age and as high as 82 years for females. This table also shows higher mortality rates in the young, which are 36 per 1000 in childhood and 30 per 1000 in infancy. In New Zealand, the mortality rates for the young are substantially lower at 5 per 1000 in infancy and 6 per 1000 in childhood. These tables also show a higher natural increase in the Solomon Islands which is 2.5% as well as a lower Per Capita GNI at $2,580. In New Zealand the natural increase percentage is only .8% and the Per Capita GNI is stated at $25, 090.…

Cloning is a naturally occurring phenomenon, as well as a human induced process. A clone is a living organism deriving from another, with identical set of genes. A naturally occurring anthropological example of a clone would be twins, a set of individuals with identical DNA. A laboratory-induced clone would be stem cell production and animal cloning. In the movie The Island by Michael Bay, the concept of cloning is used as a life insurance policy to elongate the life of a natural born individual. This medical use of cloning has been under the experimental stage for quite sometime now and under ethical question. There are three different ways of cloning, recombinant DNA technology or DNA cloning, reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning.…

The Hawaiian Islands formed through volcanic and tectonic activity. Tectonic plates shifted down into the Earth and went to magma level. This would allow for a volcano to pop through to the surface and create islands around themselves. The islands may have started as just one island, but over time more formed more (8). There are currently six Hawaiian Islands, Hawai’i, Maui, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, and Kauai (1). The Hawaiian Islands lie in the Central Pacific Ocean, 2,390 miles from California and 3,850 miles from Japan (7). Knowing the geography of the islands sets the stage for settlement of them. In two waves, the Polynesian people settled in Hawaii. Between 300 and 500 A.D., they began to arrive in Hawaii via canoes. The Polynesians brought…
