Genetic Influences The Development Of Autism
Genetic: it influences the development of autism through heredity and mutation. When it 's a question of heredity, we are talking about concordance, more precisely we are talking about concordance of characteristics. Concordance is measured by percentage. Mutation, however, is when the genes could become a risk factors for autism if mutated. There is 3 specific genes according to the Seaver Autism Center for Research and Treatment at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York:
• KATNAL2: unknown
• SCN2A: encodes a brain protein that forms a channel for sodium ions
• CHD8: is responsible for regulation of gene transcriptions (copying from parent to child) and modifies the network of proteins surrounding DNA.
