Gender Stereotypes In The Dog World
In the dog world, there are two genders of dogs: the female and the male. Although, there is no superior gender, each kind of dog has their own characteristics. Between a female and a male dog, one can be more sensitive than the other or one can be more active. The way the owners approach their pet, will affect their behavior and personality. Most owners tend to have one or multiple pets with the same sex. But having both sex dogs, can be chaotic. Each dog is emotionally divergent and could need a different way to be put up with, especially when they are different genders and are in different situations. Women in general are occasionally moody. This applies to female dogs as well. Males may not want to put up with the attitude but their reactions are different as well. A dog’s behavior can depend on the environment it is in. The male dog is considered to be more emotionally secure. Being attentive allows the dog to be more aware of what is going on and allows them to be aggressive, if necessary. Being antagonistic yet frisk, …show more content…
For males, they can become neutered and for females, they can become spayed. By doing this, it decreases the pet population, reduces unwanted mating, and creates different behaviors between both genders. If the pet is left alone, there are more likely chances that they will be more aggressive. Once female dogs are spayed, they may experience more calm behaviors around the house. In the article, “Dog Behavior After Spaying,” it states that, “one of the accepted behavioral reasons for spaying and neutering is to reduce aggression.” Not only do females get reduced aggression, but males get the same process to. They will go through less sexual desire and become more calm, if neutered at an early age. After being neutered or spayed, the dog will experience an angry behavior due to the pain they are in, but all they need is to be well taken care

Your puppy will want to please you and will do what he can to make you happy. Mastiffs are sensitive, however, and respond best to positive reinforcement than they do to scolding. while treats make good training rewards, your Mastiff may enjoy big hugs and heaps of praise more. Though the breed is very trainable, these dogs need an owner who is loving but consistent and firm. Strong leadership during training and beyond is a must given the massive size of the breed.…

Any dog that is neglected, treated poorly, and forced to fight is more likely to act aggressively towards not only other dogs but people as well. The ideology that one should not paint an entire group with the same brush or that one bad apple should not spoil the bunch can be applied to dogs as well. Much like the way that all citizens of some Middle-Eastern countries may be viewed as ‘terrorists’ following the attacks on America on September 11th, not all of them are. There are extremists from every group and ethnicity that could cause harm to others, but no single group is inherently evil. And so it is with animals. Should an owner train its dog to attack, the dog will attack—but a well-trained pit with a loving family could go its entire life without so much as a hint of aggression towards another animal. Simply put, dogs, like people, are nothing more than a product of their upbringing.…

A good dog owner is one that is willing to devote time, patience, and effort in the all-around wellbeing of their dog, no matter what the breed. In particular, Pit Bulls require a great deal of guidance, proper training, and understanding to bring out their best qualities (The Truth). With the Pit Bull breed socialization is most important, as with any dog a Pit Bull needs to be comfortable around people and other dogs. Proper socialization eliminates a dog’s anxiety and fearfulness of new people and surroundings. Along with socialization, consistent training is vital. The best type of training with Pit Bulls is positive reinforcement. “Although Pit Bulls are tough on the outside, they are often extremely sensitive dogs, and harsh training techniques are neither appropriate nor necessary” (The Truth). Along with socialization and consistent training, supervision with other dogs and children is imperative; and when left alone, the dog should be safely confined with plenty of room for exercise.…

Any dog, treated harshly or trained to attack, may bite a person. Any dog can be turned into a dangerous dog. The owner most often is responsible; not the breed, and not the dog. An irresponsible owner or dog handler might create a situation that places another person in danger by a dog, without the dog itself being dangerous, for example: leaving an infant alone with a dog. It is all in how you raise the dog to act and react to people. You could make a Labrador retriever bite and attack someone if that is what you wanted. It is not the breed of the dog that makes them aggressive or more prone to bite, it is the owner. Any individual dog may be a good, loving pet, even though its breed is considered to be likely to bite. A responsible owner can win the love and respect of a dog, no matter what its breed. One cannot look at an individual dog, recognize its breed, and then state whether or not it is going to…

All dogs bite. Every single one of them has the potential to turn on their very owner and as studies and news tell it they turn on children, strangers and other pets more often than we care to know about. What make makes a dog aggressive to the point they attack innocent victims? Is it their genes and nature, their training or perhaps their owners? Some individuals have proposed banning certain breeds that display a propensity for aggressive behavior as a solution. Banning might get results faster but it’s not the only or best solution.…

Ever see a child blow up? There are many things that could have caused that, energy, anger, bad weather, or being cooped up. With a “pit bull if it’s cooped up it might get aggressive” (wikihow, how to train a pit bull). If you put a regular dog in a kennel then take it out for a run, it will be beside itself with joy. Pit bulls aren’t like that they can turn on you, if not exercised, or not properly exercised. If you treat them with respect they will behave, you have to listen to their body language.…

Any dog of any breed can be aggressive, it just depends on how the owner trains the dog to act in a certain situation. Pit bulls are great at listening and can learn new commands very quickly. If the dog is trained to act a certain way during a situation, they will do as they are taught. The dog’s environment around them can also determine the canines behavior and the way that they act in a certain situation. If a dog has been raised in a bad environment, people cannot expect the dog to interact with others appropriately. Dogs are not like humans and cannot tell the difference between right and…

The third factor that BSL ignores is the factor of history. What is the dog’s genealogy and history of ownership? Has it been abused or abandoned? Much like humans, dogs are able to keep these traumatic memories in order to build the personality they upon adoption in present day. According to the Journal of Animal Applied Animal Welfare Science that did a research study on behaviors with dogs who have been abused and those who lived in healthy conditions. It wasn’t a surprise when the dogs who were abused seemed to perform ‘bizarre’ and ‘repetitive’ activities. It isn’t rocket science to think when an animal has a history of being abused that it would keep a stronger stance and enact in a more aggressive manner. This aggressive manner is…

Have you ever seen a dog be obedient to its owner? I have and in fact I have experienced it as well. Dogs are very obedient to their owners. One way dogs show that they are obedient is that they obey you when you give them a command. When you tell a cat to sit or lay down, they really never do what you tell them to do; they just do whatever they want. For the most part, dogs can almost understand what we tell them to do. Sometimes they won’t understand and do whatever. Whereas cats just do what they please, and they also choose to ignore us. Dogs are a whole lot better to teach than to teach a cat. Why? Dogs mostly do what you say instead of cats where they ignore you and do whatever.…

Many people don’t agree with Pit Bulls being pets. They think that all of them are vicious because it’s in their genetic history. However, I found that this is not true. There is a myth that, no matter how nice the owner was, the dog will eventually turn on their owner. This is not true, yet, if the owner is mean or mistreats the dog, then yes the Pit Bull will turn on them. Pit Bulls act based on how they were trained or treated. If raised right, they are loving pets.…
