Gender Pay Gap Analysis: Should Women Get Paid?
There has been a gender pay gap between different industries, especially in businesses. This may already be a law that women should be getting paid the same as men, it still isn’t happening in all states/cities. It has been proven that women earn 80.9% of what men do and only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes.

Women being able to get paid the same amount of money for doing the same jobs as men should happen because both genders are capable of the same things. For example, women are capable of exceeding or achieving the same things as men. The gender pay gap shouldn’t even be an issue because it discriminates against women who work as hard as they can and still not get paid enough. Another problem is that women may have gotten the same education and still be considered inexperienced. Even though they may have the same abilities as them, the gender gap is 21%. Which has changed from early times but hasn’t equalized the pay between the genders. As a result, men and women are capable of achieving the same things and should get paid the same amount. (Google)

Some research says, when women cry and show emotion, psychology proves that this is actually what makes them stronger mentally and emotionally. Some might say that men who show their emotions are “weak” and “emotional”, which isn’t true, but men tend to take out their emotions physically. While women may cry and let out their emotions, which can relieve stress. On the other hand, men might be stronger than women due to upper body strength but women have also been said to be physically stronger than some men in this sense also. This shows how a woman CAN be as strong as men physically. For example, women can be said to be stronger since they give birth and nurture a baby. For these reasons, both men and women can be as strong as each other mentally, physically, and emotionally.

    First, the pay that women receive is still unequal to that of their male counterparts. On average, white women are paid 78 cents to the white man’s dollar, and it is worse for women of color; for instance, to the white man’s dollar, black women are only paid 64 cents, Hispanic women are paid 54 cents, and Native American women are paid 59 cents.     One theory is that we can use pay transparency. Pay transparency is when companies inform their employees about what strategies they are using to pay their workers (Frank). This could help to stop the gender pay gap because women will be more aware of what their male co-workers are being paid, allowing women to negotiate with their boss. Another proposal is to diminish salary negotiations. Many women decide not to negotiate for a higher salary because they fear it will make them seem forceful or obnoxious (Carnevale). If negotiations are not happening as frequently, it will put both men and women on a slightly more level playing field with regard to income potential. This reasoning implies that there is a stereotype against women. In some situations, women are being pressured by their bosses and coworkers not to negotiate because they are afraid of being judged. If this stereotype is removed, then there is a good chance that women will not be as unwilling to negotiate for a higher salary.     Women work just as hard as men during their working hours. Women who worked hard for their education and job are treated unfairly with their wage. Almost all jobs for women pay less than what a man earns doing the same job. For instance, “In researching this issue at the Center for Gender Studies, we found only four occupational categories for which comparison data were available in which women earned even a little more than men: special education teachers, order clerks, electrical and electronic engineers and food preparation occupations (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics)” (Lips 309-310). Many occupations for women do not offer equal or more pay than men receive. The opportunity for women to earn even a little more than men in equal positions is limited to four categories of occupations. Not all women want to fit themselves into those careers. More occupations should be available for women at equal pay of men. Women do not deserve to be paid less than men in equal positions. This is causing women to be upset because they believe even though they have the education, experience and deserve to succeed in the workplace, they face the challenge to receive the same wage as men do. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 was a positive step forward for women in the workplace, but no major changes to benefit working women have been implemented since then. Another example states "It's been 51 years since the Equal Pay Act was passed, and women still aren't getting equal pay for equal work," says Lisa Maatz, vice president of government relations at the American Association of University Women. The gap may seem small and a vocal minority suggests that is not enough of a difference to start a political movement however any amount of difference is still too large. Journal of International Diversity in 2012 calculated that in corporate America when a male made $824 then the female counterpart makes only $669. That 20 percent comes out to real money difference which can change how someone lives their life. This 20 percent seems not as large as it used to be however that difference should be zero.
